Chapter 55.Uncertainty.

Karlie's POV:

Pregnancy is a time of joy,hope,and anticipation,but also a time of fear,uncertainty,and vulnerability."-unknown.

"I am pregnant. I'm going to be a mother. I'm barely a woman, how can this be? I don't know what to do. I'm not ready. Aiden is the father, but he can never know. Am I doing the right thing? Ever since that doctor's appointment, all I can think about is my baby's heartbeat. Anthony has been amazing, and I know I'm not alone, but the pain and deception that I have to carry... I don't feel I can. We had returned to the city, and he had stated that he wants someone we can trust to take care of me until our wedding and we move away to our home. I had no words. I never knew what to say. He had the driver take me home along with a new lady maid, even though I had Rosa. He wanted another person to make sure I was okay. I told him, 'What shall I tell my parents?' 'It's normal, love,' he replied. 'For your husband to add another lady maid to your team, you need not to worry.' The new lady maid, she was beautiful. She was black. Because with everything that Anthony does, he will always defy all odds. Her name was Kenya. She had a very thick accent, a slim figure, and the most beautiful hair. It was thick. It was unlike any hair I had ever seen. I liked her. I could tell we were going to be great friends. When she got home with me, I introduced her to the staff and instantly everyone welcomed her, even my parents. She was to be at my beck and call, she and Rosa. Even though I have not told Rosa about my pregnancy, I feel it isn't something she could keep to herself. I'm up in the middle of the night again, wanting ice cream with fruits again. It seems to be the only thing that stays in my stomach. Everything else smells and tastes awful. I knew I can't survive on this alone, but I know that my appetite hasn't been the same. As I made my way downstairs to get my ice cream, I saw Kenya in the kitchen. 'My lady, you should have called for me. I would have gotten you whatever you need,' I smiled at her. 'No need, I can help myself.' 'No, my lady, I insisted. I just needed some ice cream with fruits.' 'Ah, I remember my cravings.' 'Shhh, no one else knows but you,' I understand. She stated and lowered her voice, 'You have children?' Karlie asked. 'I do, madam. A boy and a girl. My husband and I were nowhere ready when I got pregnant and had the twins. You have twins? That's amazing. How did you manage? My biggest fear is that I won't be a good mother. I feel I'm barely a woman.' 'My lady, not to worry. Once your baby comes, you will learn exactly what to do to take care of him or her. It is not something you are expected to know going into it, and I'll be by your side, as will your husband. You shall be just fine.' Kenya made Karlie the ice cream and fruit bowl. 'I added something to it, taste it.' Karlie tasted it, and it was amazing. 'What did you add, Kenya?' 'I added chocolate syrup to make it even better.' 'Thank you. I would like it if when I'm getting ready for my wedding on Saturday, I want you there with the rest of the team.' 'Of course, my lady. It would be a great honor.' Karlie continued eating her ice cream. 'I
"I have so many questions about the whole pregnancy. Is birth painful? Slow down, my lady. I will answer any questions that you may have. Can I speak freely?"

"My lady, certainly," Karlie said. "It may not be the best place to talk."

"That is indeed correct. I shall get my questions answered at a later time. For now, let's focus on breakfast. My Master stated he wanted to change your diet a bit, just to make sure you are getting all the nutrients that you need. While I do agree that I need to change a few things, I can't make too many big changes here. My mother had four children, she will see right through me. So just minor changes until we move into my home."

"I understand, my lady. I will be very discreet. Okay, thank you. But Kenya, why are you up this late?"

"It's a new environment. I am not yet used to it. Everyone has been kind, but I suppose I was a little homesick. I have been with the Fairview's since I was a teenager. Their home is the only home I've ever known. I'm sorry. It will be well."
