Karlie's POV:
I don't need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain.

Audrey Hepburn.

Karlie was up. She couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned. It was her 20th birthday. Her coming-of-age party was today with the scandal and everything else. And not seeing Aiden in so long, she just didn't know what to do. She got up, got dressed, and went to see if Amber was awake.

But when she looked in, Amber was sleeping. Karlie walked down the stairs slowly so she wouldn't wake everyone else. She opened the fridge and took milk out and decided she was going to make some warm milk.

It's what her mom used to give her as a child when she couldn't sleep. She sat at the kitchen table and drank her milk. She looked through the window, and for some strange reason, she was drawn to go to the lake.

It was about 12:30 am, and she was a woman now. The thought of it made her a little scared. She put her shoe on, grabbed her jacket, and went to the lake. She walked and thought about what her coming-of-age party was going to be like. She got to the lake and took a seat. The air was so cool. She sat and stared at the water.

Aiden got to the lake, and there she was

Aiden got to the lake, and there she was. Why was she out this late? Immediately he was more concerned than angry. She shouldn't be out this late. What if something happened to her? He didn't know how he would survive. "Karlie, you shouldn't be out this late," he startled her. She looked at him. "I know, but I couldn't sleep. Me neither. Today is my coming-of-age party. I know, love. I don't know what to expect." He walked up to her and took a seat beside her.

"It's going to be well, I'm sure. Look at your face." She touched his face in concern. "It's fine. It's healing. How did you find out about Anthony's son, and why would you confront him?" "I had my head of security look into him, and I never intended for it to come out the way it did. I went to meet him to discuss it and let him know he should tell you. I know it wasn't my place, but I couldn't just stand by and watch the woman I love marry someone who is dishonest I mean he's a  snake."
