Aiden woke up at 6 AM the next morning. He hadn't slept much after discovering Anthony's secret; the revelation had kept him up all night. He knew he had to tell Karlie, but the 'how' eluded him.
Rolling out of bed, he headed downstairs for breakfast. It had been years since he'd prepared his own meal—probably not since he was 15. He chuckled, recalling the time he nearly set the kitchen ablaze, prompting his mother to insist he join her in the kitchen thereafter to learn the basics. Her belief was that while they enjoyed privileges, they should also be self-sufficient.

"Mary entered the kitchen, stopping in surprise when she saw Aiden at the table. "Master, you should have woken me. I would have made your breakfast."
Aiden smiled, taking another bite of his pancakes. "That's okay, Mary. All those mornings spent with Mom in the kitchen finally paid off."
She nodded approvingly. "Will you be getting up early from now on? I can adjust my schedule to have your breakfast ready."
"There's no need to change anything. This was just a spur-of-the-moment thing," he assured her. "But if you want to adjust the staff to an earlier shift, that's fine too."
"Understood, Master. Also, you had a call from Cole Arthur. He didn't leave a message."
Aiden raised a brow. "Cole from the golf games? Damn, I've been meaning to reach out but haven't gotten around to it. Did he leave a callback number?"
"He sure did," Mary replied.
"Great. Just put it on my desk in the study. I'll give him a call sometime today." He pushed his chair back and stood. "I'm going down to the lake for a swim."
"Yes, Master," Mary responded, gathering the dishes as he made his way outside.
Aiden walked toward the stables, the crisp morning air filling his lungs. "Hey, boy," he murmured, stroking his horse's mane. The animal whinnied in response, nudging against him. "Yeah, yeah, I missed you too."
