"The next four weeks had been unusually quiet. Aiden did all he could to avoid his father, not acknowledging his presence whenever they crossed paths. The resentment still sat heavily on his chest—his father had confined him to the mansion, humiliated him, and tried to strip him of his autonomy. Aiden would never allow that to happen again.

He had also been avoiding Ariel. They had seen each other only at rehearsals, where he remained polite but distant. She hadn't pushed him for more, and for that, he was grateful. His thoughts were elsewhere, consumed by a decision he had made during those long, isolated weeks.

It was time to claim the trust fund his mother had left for him. His father would never listen, never allow him to make his own choices, never accept that he could not and would not marry Miss Winters. Aiden was done waiting for approval. If he wanted control over his life, he had to take it.

His plan was simple. He would leave the nest, move out of the mansion, and start his life on his own terms. Maybe his father would disown him, maybe it would create an uproar, but none of that mattered anymore.

For now, he had to see this rehearsal through. He had given his word, and if nothing else, Aiden Baldwin was a man of honor.

With a deep breath, he got out of bed and headed downstairs.

"Good morning, Mary."

"Good morning, Master. I have your breakfast ready."

"Thank you. I've told you before, you spoil me too much."

Mary chuckled softly. "I know, Master, but I also know Susanna wouldn't have it any other way."

Aiden smiled at the mention of his mother, warmth spreading through his chest. She had been one of a kind, a woman with a heart so full of love that even after all these years, her presence still lingered in the home she left behind.
