Karlie's POV:
Hold no grudges and practice forgiveness. This is the key to having peace in all your relationships."Karlie woke up to find Anthony sitting at her bedside. He startled her. "Hi," he said, as she sat up in bed. "What are you doing here?"
"Apparently, you had a panic attack, and this is your second one in a matter of weeks," Anthony replied. "Rosa was worried, and I'm to be your husband. So instead of worrying your parents out, she decided to call me. I know the stress is not good for you, especially if you are..."
"Shhh, Anthony," Karlie interrupted him before he could say another word. "It is not proper for you to be here in my bed chamber. I will get dressed and meet you downstairs. Are you sure you're well enough?"
"I am fine, okay?" Anthony held her hand and pressed them against his face. "I can assure you, I want the Fairview doctor to take a look at you."
"That is a terrible idea, and you know why."
"Well, I suppose you are indeed correct, my lady." He got up and told her to get dressed. He closed the door behind him as he walked down the stairs. He thought about all they needed to do for their wedding on Saturday. Karlie wanted an intimate setting for the wedding, and he totally agreed. The fewer people, the better. So, they decided for it to be small, just them and their families. And with Karlie feeling sick, the quicker they got married and moved into their home, the better. It was far away from here.
She finally made her way down the stairs. "You look beautiful," he said.
"Thank you," she replied.
"So, Mr. Fairview, where are we headed?"
"Well, we are going to the Fairview mansion, and you will meet with the team of planners so we can get you fitted with your demands for a wedding this weekend."
We have a busy week ahead of us. I've got my side covered for my bridal party. Who are you using for your groomsmen? I have it covered." As they drove to his house, Karlie laid on his lap. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. When they arrived at the mansion, Anthony woke her up.
"We are here, sweetheart," he stated, as she opened her eyes. He got out of the car and took her hand, and they headed inside the house. As she walked in, Martha greeted her.
"We have everything set up in the living room for you," Martha said.
"Thank you, Martha," Karlie stated as she held her hand. They went into the room, where everything was ready. Anthony smiled.
"Let's get started. We are getting married," and for the first time, Karlie felt a little excitement. "This is it," she thought.
As she sat down with the wedding planner, she started telling her everything she wanted.
"I want it to be outdoors by the ocean," Karlie said.
"I have just the place," the planner stated, as she showed Karlie a picture-perfect location. "Can we get it ready on such short notice?" Karlie asked.
"As your husband stated, you want it small, but as the soon-to-be Mrs. Fairview, your wedding is going to be big, so I would say prepare for that," the planner replied.
As much as Karlie hated the idea, it was true.
"So, how do we pull off such an event in 4 days?"
"Leave it all to me, madam. All you have to do is show up. My sisters' dresses, everyone has a fitting tomorrow," the planner said. "You stated your colors are mint green and coral, so I will start getting everything in order. I'm sorry, what's your name? We just went right into it."
"My name is Faith, and I am your planner," she replied.
"Okay, Faith, I trust I'm in good hands."
"Martha, where is Mr. Fairview?" Karlie asked.
"He's in the study, right down the hall," Martha pointed. "Turn left, the first door on the right. You'll see it, knock on it."
This home was beautiful. She walked down the hall and knocked on the door to the study.
"Come in," Anthony stated. "Hi," he smiled, "come in. I'm just finishing a few phone calls. Guess our wedding is going to be bigger than you wanted."
"It's okay. I'm marrying Anthony Fairview. I should have known my wedding can't be small," Karlie said. Anthony laughed.
"Well, when you say it like that, I suppose you're right. But you're going to be the first lady. Finally, somebody to share it with. And I promise you that we will take our time. I will not rush you into anything. We will learn and grow together. Okay? So, can we please take the rest of the day off? I want to take you into the city."
"I want you to see a doctor. Let's know for sure if you are with child. I'll drive us; it will be just you and me. I am very concerned. I want to make sure you are healthy, okay? I'll go. I am 20 years old, and I am terrified. It's okay; you've got me."
They left the house and drove to the hospital in the city, about 2 Hours drive from where Anthony lives.
"Doctor, thank you for taking us in on such short notice."
"Not a problem, anything for you and your bride," he smiled at Karlie.
"So, I heard you've been having anxiety attacks and you haven't been feeling well," Karlie nodded.
"Okay, right this way to my office, please."
Karlie and Anthony walked into the office. "I want to do an ultrasound. Okay, you're going to have to put this on please remove your dress, and put this on," she looked at Anthony and he nodded.
She laid on the bed, and the doctor put the gel on her tummy. As the doctor used the device, Anthony. smiled as he heard the heartbeat.
"How far along is she?" Anthony asked.
"Just about 5 weeks," the doctor replied.
As both Karlie and Anthony took turns listening to the heartbeat, they knew there was no turning back now.
"Can we have the room, doctor, please? We need to talk."
He wiped off the gel from her stomach and told her she could get dressed.
"So, it's real. You are pregnant. My offer stands; I will stand with you no matter what. But can we do this?" Karlie asked.
"Yes, I believe we can," Anthony replied as he hugged her, and she began to cry. She was young and she didn't know much, but he was going to take care of her; that was for sure. Anthony knew the baby wasn't his, but he instantly felt attached once he heard the baby's heartbeat. Who said that their marriage needed to be perfect? It didn't, but he knew he was willing to work on it every single day, as needed, to create a life together. He held Karlie's hand.
"Don't cry; I'm here. You've got me. You will never be alone. I promise you, with everything I am, that I will stand by you as long as you allow me to do so."
Anthony didn't like seeing Karlie, or any woman for that matter, hurt or distressed. He knew he wasn't perfect, but he was a good father and a good man.
"We've got this," he told her.
Anthony went and got the doctor, and they organized for him to be her obstetrician. Anthony was going to make sure she had the best care, no matter what.
"So, Doc, what will we do in regards to the panic attacks?"
"Well, we can't give her any medication for it, so just breathing exercises and keeping her stress levels low. So, don't upset her. The panic attack is from her being overwhelmed, and I will keep an eye on her. She is in good hands."
"Thank you, Doctor," Anthony stated.
"You're welcome, Mr. Fairview," he smiled. "Let's go home, dear."
They got up and left the hospital to head back home. Karlie was quiet the whole way home. She was maybe still in shock, Anthony thought to himself.
