This chapter will seem like filler but I promise it's not. The legilimency descriptions will be very important later on.

Ominis walked through the walls of the Ministry, his wand pulsing as he navigated the hallways of the legilimens floor.

He had found his first day on Tuesday that being an assistant legilimens is not easy in any way, shape or form. He had to completely trust his instructor, and that included letting the man run around in his head for nearly two hours that first day.

Luckily he had trained on Occlumency as well. He couldn't let this man know some of his secrets, like Sebastian and Diane, and especially not the giant basilisk sleeping underneath Hogwarts.

His instructor was named Mr Pena, a man from India who had a thick accent that was difficult for Ominis to understand at first, but he'd quickly gotten used to now. Luckily for him, Mr Pena didn't seem to recognize his last name as anything bad... which was a welcome change.

After the initial run around in his head Mr Pena had been much more forthcoming with him, even friendly. He had seen Ominis' true intentions first hand, after all.

"I do have concerns about your lessons in legilimency, Mr. Gaunt." Pena said solemnly from the other side of the desk. "Normally for a successful memory delve you must look your subject in the eyes, but that is impossible for you. I would suggest we look for an alternate means to focus on the inner being of your subject."

Ominis hummed thoughtfully, trying to think of something. "Well, I see through my wand, in a way. Could that be a focus?" He held up his pulsing wand.

Pena looked at the wand curiously. "I will admit, I have not seen a power like that from a wand, so it is possible that it would be a focus just as useful if not more so than eye contact. Our goal today is to test whether you will have the ability to see memories. Not every Legilimens is able to memory delve, but you have shown exceptional abilities in mind magic."

Ominis smiled happily, glad to hear someone other than Hecat think that.

"I hope I can, sir." For more than one reason. He wanted to take Sebastian up on his offer, but he had to learn how to memory delve first... and it wasn't easy.

"Another challenge you will have is recognizing what you see. Upon our last visit I experienced your memories, and you truly have a unique view of the world. Your magic sight is unlike anything I have seen, and makes things difficult to recognize from my viewpoint. I believe it will be the same with you, the things you are familiar with in your sight are very different from what other people see. It will add complexity to your lessons."

"I'm willing to try, sir." Ominis said in determination.

"You see using magic to find objects around you, and from what I saw you only see in red." Pena said with interest, leaning forward curiously. "Your whole world is red, Mr. Gaunt. Colors of any other color will be jarring to you. I want you to prepare for this."

Red? He didn't even know what red had ever meant, but apparently it was all he saw. People had always described the light from his wand as red, so he supposed it would make sense that his sight would be the same.

Diane had red hair... did that mean it was the color of his wand-vision?

"Today you will practice memory delving on myself. I will think of my hometown, and you are to find the emotion I feel and describe what you see. As I said, this will add extra complexity to you, so I want you to take your time and be cautious."

"Yes, sir." Ominis said, a bit worried.

"Now, try to establish a focus with your wand. You will need to concentrate on your point of focus to enter your subjects mind. Be careful of not being too aggressive because it is very easy to damage surface memories." Pena warned.
