At dinner Diane couldn't help but cast little glances to Anne, who was laughing at something Garreth had said across the table from them. Ominis put a hand on her leg beneath the table, and she realized she'd been bouncing it anxiously.
"What has you so nervous?" He leaned over to whisper to her, Sebastian glancing to them from the other side of her as they spoke.
"I'm not nervous." She lied, whispering back.
Ominis let out a little scoff. "Your leg has been bouncing since we sat down, sweet. You only do that when you're nervous."
Diane sighed in frustration. She really couldn't hide a thing from him anymore... but that was probably for the best. "I need to talk with someone and it's going to be super awkward and uncomfortable and I'm nervous about it."
"Who are you going to talk to?" Sebastian whispered from the other side of her, making her jump.
He looked at her with an odd expression from how she'd reacted to him, raising a brow curiously.
"Um..." Diane stammered, not really knowing what to say.
That made Ominis curious, letting out a soft noise of intrigue. "You know we can help you, if you want." He whispered again.
"No no, this is something I have to do on my own." She said, glancing to Sebastian who was frowning, now.
Why was she insisting on doing so many things on her own lately? What was she up to?
She saw the look he had and sighed, rolling her eyes in frustration. "It's fine, I promise! Stop worrying so much!" She whispered to him.
"I can hardly help it when you're being so secretive." Sebastian mumbled.
"Not fun, is it?" Ominis said pointedly with a grin while he took another bite of dinner.
Sebastian sighed, glancing at the two of them. He had secrets of his own, still... and he was nervous to talk about something too. He was waiting until after graduation, though. He still has to think of the perfect way to do it, though.
His thoughts were interrupted when Anne jumped up from her spot, walking quickly out of the great hall with her hand on her stomach. Garreth looked anxiously after her, but Anne waved a hand back to tell him to stay. He stayed, but put his face in one of his hands in frustration with a deep sigh.
"I'll be right back." Diane said, standing up.
"What happened?" Ominis asked worriedly, having heard the commotion.
"Anne is sick again." Sebastian said gruffly. "I'll come with you." He said, standing to stand up.
"No!" Diane said quickly, catching them both by surprise at how emphatic she was. "Just... she's in the girls bathroom, right? It's fine. I'll be right back."
Sebastian sat back down with a low sound of frustration as she ran off again, stabbing his fork into his steak far more aggressively than necessary.
"It's already dead, Sebastian." Ominis said, tilting his head curiously at his ire. "What's wrong?"
"Something is going on... Diane is hiding something and I don't like it. She's worried, and she won't tell us." He grumbled as he ate the piece of steak.
"Maybe she's trying to figure something out. You know how she gets when she's in a tizzy about something." Ominis said softly.
"But why won't she let us help her with it? She promised." He grumbled.
Ominis sighed and nodded. That was true... they had all been working at being more open, but Diane still had a hard time expressing herself to them. It was so natural for her to hide her emotions. "I think sometimes she doesn't mean to. It's just how she thinks."
