Anne woke up the next morning feeling groggy but happy, a smiled coming over her face when she remembered the night before. She looked over to see Garreth was up already, making breakfast for them in the kitchen from the smell in the air.
She sighed and yawned, stretching wide before she noticed something on her nightstand. A small vial of purple potion and a note
To prevent any accidents before we're ready ❤️
She froze, her heart twisting as she glanced toward the doorway. He didn't know that she probably didn't need the potion... but he'd wanted them to be safe.
She slipped on her dress and held the vial tight in her hand, figuring it wouldn't hurt to just drink it. He didn't know the curse had messed her up so badly, after all. That's what they'd told her at St Mungo's, anyway.
She sighed wearily, trying not to let tears sting her eyes. She needed to tell him. Especially now, when things were getting more serious. It was only fair to him to tell him before they got too far in.
She uncorked the vial and drank it, sighing as it had a similar vanilla peppermint taste he knew she liked. But as soon as it hit her stomach she felt something inside her suddenly lurch unhappily.
She all but sprinted to the bathroom, holding the sides of the toilet as she wretched painfully before sitting back and groaning in misery. She hadn't had to do that in so long, she'd forgotten how awful it felt to have that sudden rejection.
Garreth ran into the doorway with wide eyes, seeing Anne on the ground next to the toilet and kneeling down in worry. "You feeling okay?" He asked, running a hand through her hair gently.
"I just got really sick all of a sudden." She said wearily, leaning into his touch. "I'll be fine."
"What made you so sick?" He asked, his eyes searching for any sign of pain or hurt in her.
"I'm not sure, it happens sometimes. I did drink that vial you gave me though." She looked up to him sheepishly.
He gave a soft thoughtful hum and nodded. "I'll give you another. Try taking a little sip this time and see how that does."
Anne nodded, leaning against him and putting her arms around his shoulders. "It may just be nerves too." She confessed softly. They were going to meet his family today, after all.
"Oh Anne, I told you they're going to love you." He said softly, pulling her against him tighter.
"I know... I'm just nervous. I can't really help it." She sighed.
Garreth nodded and comforted her for a long moment before he went to go get a second small vial. "Try again. Just a little this time."
Anne looked anxiously at the vial, the same uneasy feelings filling her at the sight of it. She felt sick just from looking at it with all the emotions it brought up in her. Fear, anger, frustration, loneliness, sadness... it was like all her anxiety about the future was focused on that one little potion vial.
She sighed softly and took the vial, taking just a small sip and gagged again, turning back to the toilet as she shuddered again.
Garreth swore softly, stroking her hair as even the small sip seemed to upset her. "It's okay sweetie, it just means I won't be able to... you know, finish inside you again. We'll be fine. If you can't drink these it's not a big deal."
She looked back to him with an anxious look before shaking her head. She wanted to tell him... she wanted to, right now- but she also didn't want to ruin their Christmas before they went to meet his family. "Okay." She said, her voice small.
