As he avoided Rashomon, he couldn't help but pant in exhaustion, his body shaking.
This was his last match. He held up pretty well during the entirety of the training, even won against Tachihara, although he did end up getting his ass kicked by Gin because he got a bit too cocky during the match, but this one, was by far the most difficult.
Akutagawa was one strong motherfucker, he'll admit that much.
"What, giving up already, Jinko?" The raven cockily grinned, as he missed Atsushi by an inch , with him barely moving out of the way.
"You wish , Akutagawa." The tiger grinned in turn, as he felt the tiger pretty much rage inside of him, his eyes sharpening, claws digging in the hall's floor, as he pounced away from Rashomon, before grabbing the black tendrils harshly and pulling Akutagawa towards himself by them, with the man ba rely avoiding the punch that came flying his way.
"Oh, please. Get some new tricks, I beg." The boy in front of him rolled his eyes, Rashomon wrapping around Atsushi's body and making him struggle to breathe, before he managed to swipe the other off his feet with a swift kick, getting released in turn as he grabbed the black locks of hair and wrestled atop the boy, eyes hazy and mind slipping the slightest bit.
"I'm no dog, but you are being quite the bitch." He found himself mumbling, before he got thrown off, their positions switching, with Akutagawa having a single moment of weakness, as he coughed into his hand.
On one side, this was his chance.
On the other hand, he would feel like an asshole , if he harmed the older boy while he was coughing his damned lungs out.
But as he spared a look towards Dazai and Chuuya at the bench, he knew what was expected of him.
So, with a single glare, he switched their positions again, this time using the strength of the tiger to smash the boy's head down against the floor hard , getting a light little yelp in turn, one that made him almost feel bad.
But he still held Akutagawa there, as he panted, exhausted and ready to pass out.
"And that's a win." Chuuya clapped, making him release the raven, who simply spared him a single glare, cold grey eyes unforgiving.
"That was cheap. " The raven muttered, as he rubbed his wrist.
"Oh please. Like you wouldn't do the same to me." The tiger responded back and cranked his neck before he finally allowed his body to relax, as he dropped down on the floor, to sit.
"I would do it in a heartbeat." Akutagawa shrugged, making him roll his eyes.
"Alright, that's enough. We have the results. According to them, you're somewhere at the B rank. Which isn't bad. " Their executive clapped, making the entire training hall quiet down, and making Atsushi's heart race.
"But I do expect you to get at least an A by the end of the month."
The expectations were high , but he supposed that that was to be expected. After all, almost the entire black faction had been rated at least an A rank in combat, with Gin being the S+ rank by now, her physical strength combined with her quick thinking during physical combat almost terrifying from what he's seen and read.
"You will be working with Akutagawa from now on." And that made him blink.
He turned to the said man, who looked just as, if not more, confused and mortified by the announcement.
"Executive, I think there's been some sort of a mistake." He muttered, as he stared in disbelief.
"Are you suggesting you know what's better for you than me, Ryūnosuke?" The redhead arched his brow, and stunned Akutagawa back into silence, as he simply sat there, staring at the floor.
"With all respect, Chuuya, don't you fear that they'll kill each other during a mission and simply write it off as an accident?" Tachihara raised his hand, making him huff in annoyance. No matter how much he disliked the raven, he wouldn't kill him.
Although, by the way that the raven stared at the floor with rage of a thousand betrayed souls, he couldn't exactly say that Akutagawa felt the same way.
"Nah, Akutagawa-kun will be a good boy and team up with Atsushi-kun because I've said so." He heard the voice of Dazai from the bench. "Besides, he's changed a lot and grew as a person, isn't that right?" The mafioso grinned, making Akutagawa look up at him almost robotically.
"So, you'll be great and do what you're told, won't you, Akutagawa-kun?" Their boss purred, as he approached the duo and put both his arms around the two young men, making Atsushi blink.
Oh god.
"Yeah." Akutagawa muttered, as he stared off blankly.
"Huh? What? You're actually going to team up and fight with me?" The tiger couldn't help but gape, as he stared at his coworker.
"Yeah." He let out again, in the same flat tone, no seeming coherent thought behind those dull grey eyes.
"Are you…actually Akutagawa?" He stared, judgingly.
"Yeah." Same tone, same word.
Now, hold on a damn minute.
"And what did you have for dinner last night?" The tiger asked, to confirm a suspicion.
"Yeah."
The word made him sigh and roll his eyes.
Akutagawa literally bugged out once Dazai praised him. He really couldn't believe the boy.
"There we go, all fixed. See? Told you they'd make a great team, Chibi-kun. Just like we did!" His boss clasped his hands together as he released the two and headed back towards the bench, crossing his legs and sending Atsushi a smug look.
"He didn't even hear a word of what I've said." Atsushi mumbled as he crossed his arms, getting a single shrug from Dazai, who grinned menacingly at his words.
"Now, that's not my problem, is it?" His boss chuckled, causing him to roll his eyes once again. "Besides, it will be fun to work together!" He chirped, as he clapped his hands together, and made even Chuuya sigh in disappointment as he listened to the rambling. "Oh, all the funny banter, the small fights…Before you even know it, you'll be the greatest of friends." He really did doubt that.
But….he couldn't exactly dispute the fact that they co uld potentially work as a team. Only if they didn't hate each other's mere existence, that is.
"I feel sorry for you, 'Tsu. Although, at least I don't have to deal with the emo bastard." Tachihara sighed, as he gave him a comforting tap on the back and made him groan. "How is that supposed to comfort me!" He couldn't even help but whine, as he laid back against the floor and spared a look at his teammate.
"Think about it like this. You've saved me and Gin from a potential mental breakdown with Akutagawa." He'd rather save himself from that, he thought, but still nodded at his teammate, before he closed his eyes.
He better get treated to Chazuke by his boss for dinner tonight for this absolute nightmare of a team up.
