At the warehouse, the fire burned bright. The glinting of it shined gorgeously on his face, as he stared at it.
He felt….free. Not completely, just off the eternal leash that the director put on him. He hoped the man had to pay for what he did to him. But then again, hoped the man realized, either in his last moments or perhaps during his punishment wherever he went, that what he did was disgusting.
If there was an afterlife, perhaps the man didn't deserve it. The director didn't deserve the privilege to even be tortured. He deserved to cease to exist in all plains, frankly, in Atsushi's opinion.
And as the last of the ashes gathered on the ground, he felt the final lock on the chain snap. He allowed a smile to grace his features, not one of happiness, but one of relief instead. The huge, huge weight on his shoulders dropped.
As he found out, the director far from regretted what he did. He thought he was doing something good. Not even an ounce of regret was shown inside of that burnt letter. Not even an ounce of compassion. Not even empathy, or simple realization.
Which in turn, didn't make him feel the sadness in his chest any more.
It was an odd feeling, the boy supposed. To have someone who was like a father to you, granted a terrible one, dead, in front of your eyes.
But, it was a good feeling to know that the man wasn't coming back.
"Let's go home." He found himself saying to Dazai and Chuuya, who were simply there to make sure he didn't cause a fire hazard.
"I'll have to head to my apartment, since Ane-san is going to come over, we have a wine night." The redhead apologetically squeezed his shoulder, making him dismiss the man with a soft little grin.
"That's fine, don't worry, Chuuya-san. I'm good and I'm sure Dazai-san will be more than happy to keep me company if needed." The tiger explained, getting a nod from the brunet and his hair ruffled by the shorter of the trio.
"Mhm, that's fine with me." Dazai confirmed, slinging an arm around Atsushi's shoulder as they exited, a car already awaiting their arrival. As they entered, he leaned his head onto Dazai's shoulder and hand on top of Chuuya's thigh, enjoying the physical contact and the difference in temperature between the two. Chuuya was like a goddamn furnace, whilst Dazai's temperature ran below average human one, almost icy cold at all times, especially his hands.
He found the feeling of both of them enjoyable.
The car ride was mostly quiet, since all three of them were kind of tired from the day. Chuuya had to go visit Q to talk to them again and get their report on the events with the Guild, so that they could finalise the paperwork from the event, whilst Dazai was surprisingly working very hard today.
He had a huge meeting with the rest of the executives about their faction's progress, their stability and just general health of the employees, both mental and physical.
So it was no surprise when they got out of the car, that the man slumped against his shoulders and lazily passed him the key, whilst waving Chuuya off in the background.
He felt like the day was easier for him, since he didn't really do much at all.
"You look so hot when you work out." His menace of a partner suddenly commented, almost making him drop the key out of surprise.
"Were you…watching me?" The boy blinked, knowing damn well that Dazai just got out of the meeting.
"Yeah. Listening to my dearest employees babble about things that are barely a formality makes me feel bored." His boss shrugged unapologetically, making the boy blink at him. "So I decided to check the footage of the building on my phone. And my, I got to say, you made me more interested than they ever could. " The man flirtatiously whispered, as he opened the doors.
