The rest of the night was a blur. One where they ended up watching horror and cringy slashers, most of which had terrible SFX and almost hilarious death scenes. They ended up mostly chatting amongst themselves, picking up on tropes and calling out the "plot" in the first five minutes of the films, trying to see who knew them the best.

Afterwards, Chuuya ordered take-out and they just ended up having a gleeful dinner, or well, depending on how you look at it, maybe even early breakfast, since it was four in the morning.

Then, the redhead crashed on the couch, too tired to go to his apartment, Dazai went to his office and Atsushi to his room.

The shift too, went by him faster than expected. Again, he didn't have much to do, since he didn't want to ask Akutagawa to let him tag along on missions and since Gin and Tachihara mostly went together. He was mainly in the office, organising paperwork, marking important things on the blueprints and then, once he was done with the last of the stacks of unorganised paperwork, he headed to the gym on the lower floors.

He decided that since he was somewhat done with his work for the day, and since his body is a tool for work, in a way, gaining more muscle and core strength would do him much good. Especially because he had to use his ability moderately.

There, he stayed for about two hours. The equipment wasn't too hard to get, he found himself enjoying the rower and the treadmill. although, he did almost faceplant into the machine once he set it on the highest possible option.

He managed to catch himself in time, though. After that, he got out and went for a quick lunch break.

Who he met at the front of the place was a surprise.

There he stood, Ranpo Edogawa.

He seemed to be waiting with Kunikida at his side and the tiger felt a bit awkward to pass by them without at least saying hi.

So, he waved to the so, who seemed surprised to see them. Yet, Edogawa was the first to approach him, with quick little strides.

"Atsushi-kun, right?" The man asked, as he looked him up and down.

"Um…yeah?" The boy awkwardly said, as he scratched the back of his neck. He made quite a scene in front of the ADA agent, so maybe this was to ask him who he was to the deceased man.

"Here." Was all the man said, as he passed him a paper and a bouquet of flowers, making him arch a curious brow.

"I, uh, I appreciate this, but I'm taken." The boy began, before getting interrupted. "I'm sorry, but not in a million years. This is what the director left you. I don't recommend reading this while alone." The detective responded, making his hand shake the slightest bit.

"I'm sorry for your loss. Kunikida-kun seems to think you deserve at least closure if nothing else." He smiled, giving Atsushi's shoulder a light squeeze, before running back to Kunikida, as their bus finally arrived. What could this be ?

What did the man leave him and why?

His eyes went down to the unopened letter.

He picked his phone up, shakily, and called Chuuya.

The boy knew he should only call the man if he was in a work-related danger, but he also knew that being emotionally vulnerable, alone and with a letter from your dead abuser wasn't too safe for people around him.

"What's up, tiger?" The man asked through the line, his voice a tad bit tired and scratchy.

"I was wondering…can, can I come over to your office for a bit?" He asked, as he headed straight back to their building, having lost all appetite.
