"You made Akutagawa do what?! " He screamed, as he entered the office, heart in his throat, shaking with pure, unfiltered rage.

Atsushi was livid. For the first time in his life , he was actually angry. So angry, that he blindly ran inside of Dazai Osamu's office and didn't look behind himself.

Everything was going well. So goddamn well . Dazai and Chuuya treated him so well. He was adjusting to this lifestyle, to the missions, to his coworkers, and he was beginning to feel worth a damn. The praises he received from his partners and superiors felt real. Their trust felt real.

But then they, Dazai had to go and fuck it up.

"Atsushi calm down. " Chuuya growled as he grabbed his shoulder, making him smack the hand away and turn to the redhead, blinded by his rage.

"No. You do not get to do this to me." The tiger snapped, getting a surprised look in turn. Never before, not during the punishment, not during the times where he had every right to snap at the two did he ever even look at them the wrong way. But everything had its limits.

He had his limits.

"You approved that? Approved of Akutagawa being a sacrificial lamb in case I mess up?" Atsushi couldn't help the disbelief in his voice.

"Do you have no trust in me?"  He questioned, as he angrily wiped away a tear that threatened to spill.

" Nakajima. " The redhead barked, causing him to freeze.

"I might be your partner. But I am also your executive. Don't talk to me like that." Chuuya said sternly, which drew a bitter laugh out of him.

"Yeah. And you, an executive, approved of one of your members being a meat shield for me because I'm more promising than the literal prodigy of the PM?" The tiger asked, getting only silence as an answer.

"Do your actions seem professional to you ?" Chuuya opened his lips, only to close them right after. "Don't make me laugh." He sighed, as he turned to Osamu again, looking him straight in the eye.

"I truly like you. Both of you." And that's what hurt the most. He grew to like them. Very much so. They were both extremely nice to him, helped him, trained him and basically raised his self esteem from the ground up. "But I won't stand here and let you manipulate everything in my favour." He didn't want that. He hated the way that they were trying to protect him, keep him in a glass cage.

He was caged his entire fucking life. He was kept as a pet, he was abused beyond repair and he was broken down and manipulated by everyone in his life.

So the fact that the two…the two men he told the most of his trauma…would do this left him baffled.

He also hated the fact that they thought so little of his ability to do his job that they had to create plans to keep him from harm.

"Not only did Akutagawa get his ability nullified, but something much worse could've happened, for all we know." The tiger bit out, as he leaned on the desk, staring at Dazai with mere inches between them, which in any other situation would've left him flustered, but which now only made him more and more angry as he stared at the dull face.

They had no idea what those bullets could do to a person. What if they ended up killing him? Permanently damaging him? What if Akutagawa lost his ability forever?

All those questions seemingly didn't matter to Osamu.

"What would you have done then?" He asked, as he stared at the brunet, hoping to see at least a flash of regret.

"Nothing." The disappointment he felt, as the man had the nerve to just sit there and keep quiet, made him avert his gaze and rip himself away from the desk.

"Why? Why would you even hire me if you won't let me do my job ?" He couldn't help but ask, as he looked between the two, his anger present in every word. "Why am I even here ? Am I here just to serve as entertainment?" He barked, begging for them to answer him.

And just as Chuuya was about to, Dazai waved his hand, silencing him.

"Are you done?" The brunet asked, as he stared at him calculatively, making him actually feel like a fool for ever believing that these two men would understand. Of course they wouldn't.

They were in a powerful position, they were powerful, so of course they couldn't understand the feeling of being powerless against the decisions of others.

Once they disliked the system they got into, they overthrew it. Took power for themselves with their strength. So a weakling like Atsushi who could only ever sit there and take everything thrown at him, with next to no clue of what to do, was foreign to them.

They probably couldn't even understand why he was as angry as he was.

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm done." The tiger said, as he stared at the two carefully.

"I'll get out of your presence, boss. " He bit the last word out, and bowed sarcastically.

Good. Go and blow some of that attitude off. We both know you'll be right back." Osamu said calmly, his eyes as emotionless as ever. He truly didn't get it. How such a man could be so kind towards him and yet so cruel.

How could Osamu just show him the most love and care he's ever been given and then treat him like a pet? How come he's never felt more free than he has with the men up until now, only to find out he's been leashed and tied to their hand the entire time?

How come he couldn't catch a damned break?

He turned on his heel and left, with no words left to say.

-RAN:Honestly I think that they need to be flabbergasted in order for them to realize that Atsushi isn't, in fact, just a push over, amen he kinda slayed that arguement ngl 💅
