Days until the mission ran by, until finally, the day arrived. He was kind of nervous, as he got into his disguise, having his hair dyed with temporary black, having to wear contacts and a way more profiled style to try and look as different from his normal self as possible, because of the fact that he got in the newspaper that one time.
The disguise itself was different enough from how he usually looked, to the point where he was happy with it, but still kind of scared that he might fuck up in some way. So, as he walked to the auction, and tapped the device tracking him on, he took a deep breath.
Akutagawa followed his every step, but mirrored it much farther behind him, for stealth.
They decided to go with seat number four, since, even though it was in front of their target, it was still the safest. Sitting directly behind him would bring the target's attention to them, sitting too far off might cause the device recording to bug or not pick up on the target's speech, and overall, seat number four just seemed like the best decision.
He did get permission from his executive, after he brought it up in his office yesterday, getting a go-ahead, which made him more than just happy.
He also spent a while training combat in case the worst happened. And also got two suitcases full of laundered money to use for the auction.
Whatever item the target wanted, he had to get.
As he took his seat, he tapped on his thigh, hitting the recording device, and live-streaming the conversation around him, as he adjusted, and allowed himself to relax.
After all, no reason for him to seem tense.
Stay in character.
Numerous weapons, files with classified information, even some….Files on actual people who were being put up on the black market as items, due to how… wanted their ability was, young children with amazing and promising gifts being sold off as nothing more but pictures on the screen with descriptions of both their identity, past and usefulness to the potential buyer.
He felt sick just looking at the screen.
But, the tiger reminded himself.
He just…had to stay in character, he told himself, as he saw a simple, yet alluring gun be presented on the auction's stage, in a protective glass box, different from the rest of the weapons.
"And this, this is something different from what's ever been presented before!" The girl presenting the items chuckled on the mic, as she traced her finger over the glass box almost wistfully, making him shiver. That seemed dangerous.
"It might look like a simple gun, and for what it's worth, it's built like one. But…." She trailed off, as she looked at the public, her eyes blinking a few times as she locked them with him , before she looked at their target. "The bullets for this gun are the real special item." She explained, as she straightened herself and pryed her finger off of the box, red eyes looking back at the item she was presenting.
"The one, the only, nullifying gun! Any bullet shot from this can erase ones ability for forever !"
Nullifying….. gun. His target raised his hand and immediately shouted million, which wasn't a lot and he could easily match.
"Two million." He simply smiled, as he too, raised his hand, eyes still stuck on the gun. This gun was dangerous. That, and its name…something was weird about this entire situation. This had to be connected to Dazai in some sort of way. This gun had his ability, only…. amplified.
"Four million." His target raised, making him raise once more, not even bothering to spare the man a single glance, continued to raise more and more, until….
"Sold to the fine gentleman in seat number four!" He could sense the killing intent behind him, as he turned around with a cocky little smile, hand on his chin.
"Well, well, well. Looks like I've won. And it also looks like…..you really want this item, huh?" The tiger purred, making the man raise a brow, getting a good look at him. He was a man in his twenties, ravenous dark brown hair that was slicked back with only two strands of hair poking out, one singular mole by his lip and glasses on his face, which made him seem older, and dark, dark circles around his eyes.
"Yeah. Looks like you did win." The man chuckled as he adjusted his tie, staring at him through dark lashes, eyes analysing his face and body, making him oddly creeped out. "Any way I could…persuade you to give me that item, pretty boy?" His target smiled coldly, and bingo.
"Perhaps…instead of these measly ten million, you could offer me more if I were to…resell this to you?" He smiled, equally as coldly, trying to keep that cocky energy that he decided to give his character, getting a blank stare in turn.
"Oh, I see how it is. Perhaps I could arrange something." The brunet purred, as his hand reached out, to touch Atsushi's shoulder, towards the tiger, making Atsushi slap it away in disgust. "How about you give me your number, so we can stay in contact?" The target ended up saying, as he wiped his hand against his coat, staring at Atsushi in some sort of infatuated way. God, what a creep.
"Oh, for sure." The boy smiled, softly, as he opened his eyes and narrowed them, feeling the tiger within him growl. "One thing though, do not touch me." He bit out, and threw his 'business card' , only after peeling the safety tape from it that he was told to, at the brunet, heading to the stage to collect his item once the entire thing was done.
If he were to look back, he would have noticed the grin plastered across the target's face, but he instead chose to focus on only the gun and the suitcase of bullets in his hold.
This...he did it. It only hit him as he exited the auction, the burner phone in his pocket already ringing with a message.
He did it, and he did good. He ended up getting the target's attention and the wanted weapon, as well as some additional information and theories he could share with his team and executive, and he also didn't get his cover blown nor did he end up needing backup.
Akutagawa walked out as well, he knew only by his senses, as the man stealthily hid himself in case they were being traced, making the tiger grin to himself.
He fucking did it.
