Strong One

Chapter 2

Ryker POV

"Hey E, it's me again. I bought my dinner here.  Daddy made his tasty chicken pasta.  I really want you to wake-up.  I've got so much I want to tell you" I tell my twin.  I sit down on the edge of the bed.  I need to be as close as possible to him, at the moment.  I think it's my wolf that really needs the reassurance, that Ethan is okay.  I'll know more after I shift.  Which I should have been able to do, once I reached 18. Which was 2 days ago.  I didn't really want to celebrate on my own. I'm use, to having Ethan there. So, I asked my family to save it until after he's woken up.

I eat my dinner, while talking to Ethan.  Once I've eaten, I go into the bathroom and wash out the container, as well as brush my teeth.  I go back to Ethan and scoot up next to him, laying down and putting my arm over him. Breathing in his scent which is always calming.  I close my eyes and just rest next to him.

"Aww" I cry when I'm pushed roughly from the bed.  I then jump up and look into my twin's eyes. "You're awake" I cry and go to hug him.  I'm pushed roughly away again.  "Fuck off Ry, I really hate you right now!" he cries angrily.  This makes me freeze, I was warned that he might wake thinking it was still the day, I was having sex with someone else.

"You've been asleep for a year E, I'm so sorry" I say as tears spring into my eyes. "Don't you DARE let those tears fall!  Do you think you have the right to FUCKING TEARS!!!" he yells so loudly my ears ring.

Our dad's come running into the room. "Ethan, Ethan my darling boy.  I'm so sorry" daddy says hugging him to him. "We've missed you bud, Soren has kept you asleep for just over a year" dad tells him stroking his head which is tucked into daddy's shoulder.

"Hey pop, can't breathe here" Ethan says tapping daddy on the shoulder.  He let's go of him quickly apologising again.  It's been hard, on me seeing how my father has beaten himself up, for not knowing what was going on between us. "Sorry sweetheart, how are you feeling? Do you need some water? Why isn't Haley here yet?" he fires off quickly.

"Hun, just relax a little. Haley is a little slower these days as she is expecting their first pup" dad tells daddy.  Haley comes in with a hand to her back as she is nearly full term in her pregnancy. "Ethan, how do you feel?" she asks. "I seem to have missed some stuff?" he questions. "Do you know what the date is?" she asks. He shakes his head no. "It's been 382 days since Soren made you sleep" Haley informs him.

He glances around "but it feels like just yesterday to me. Ryker, could you please leave. I feel like smashing your head against the wall at the moment" he says a little too calmly.  I nod quickly and leave the room, but stay just outside. I really can't be that far from him. It makes me feel physically sick.

"Soren managed to put you in a kind of hibernated sleep.  His magic sustained you with just the basic fluids and things administrated by us.  I'll remove the catheter shortly, but I just need to check your reflexes, thought progression. That kind of thing, would you all mind just stepping out for a few moments, it won't take long?" Haley asks.

"I'm good pop, dad" I hear Ethan assure our parents. His voice is a little deeper now, but that could be from him not using it for so long.  Everyone joins me outside the room. "I like pop, it doesn't feel right anymore hearing grown ass kids calling me daddy" daddy says to dad. He takes me hand and squeezes it. "You're going to have to deal with his anger. He is fighting to keep the lid on it at the moment" he tells me. I nod and hang my head "I deserve it, I'll deal" I assure him.

We hear Haley asking him questions and him answering. "Soren had to do what he did as you were trying to shift. It was really dangerous and he had no other choice" she tells him. "I know, he's been talking to me for a bit.  I also heard the others talking to me occasionally.  Even though it felt like my male whore of a twin spent most of his time here" we hear him say and we can feel as well as hear the anger in his words.

"At least he's awake" dad says trying to comfort me. I nod my head, but can't look him in the eyes. I know, I've really disappointed them.  I feel like a real jerk.  I don't like myself anymore, not even a little.  "I know you have to deal with what has gone on between you and you're twin.  But remember please, that we can all make mistakes.  It is whether we learn from them, is what is important.  You'll find he has also changed" Haley tells him.

"Are we done here?" he asks abruptly.  "Yes, you'll need to come in again next week, for a check-up" she answers. "My clothes?" he asks and Daddy walks back in the room. "Don't you be talking to Haley like that, she has looked after you the whole time you've been out.  Here your clothes" daddy says.

Haley walks from the room, fanning herself "glad he's not going back to my home" she mutters, before walking down the corridor.  "He won't let me be in his room, will he?" I ask dad quietly. He shrugs his shoulders and pulls a face, that tells me enough.  I sigh and move to the other side of the door, so E can walk out and not have to go past me.

"I'm okay pop, thanks though" we hear E say. Sky and grandma walk down the corridor "he's awake for real?" Sky asks, then just walks into the room with grandma stroking my cheek before following her. "Wow, you've got taller" Sky says then we hear her hug him. "I've missed you. Ryker really hasn't been with us either.  But I've missed your hugs and our talks" she continues "I'm here now, come on let's go home. Grandma did you bring any of your fried chicken?" Ethan asks

"No, we've been told you can have clear broths for a few days, before moving on to some semi solid food. Before you can abuse your stomach with everything you boys can put away" grandma tells him. We hear Ethan curse and then apologise straight after. Probably because grandma and daddy have glared at him.

"Sandra, has been telling everyone in school that you and she are together. I know she's lying, but most of the school don't" Sky tells him. "She can say whatever she wants, doesn't change anything" E says. "Can you still hear Soren?" she asks him. "Yeah of course, I can. He's gripping that he, isn't going to be getting any real meat for a while" E jokes with her.

They come out the room and Ethan doesn't spare me a glance as he turns out the door. "So good to see you up and about Ethan. We've all missed. This year has been hard on all of us" dad tells him, placing his arm around his shoulders and walking down the corridor towards the exit.

Daddy waits for me, squeezing my hand. I blink back the tears. Ethan is right I don't deserve the release of tears. "Give him time, Ry" daddy links me. I nod and we follow them out.  Other pack members out enjoying the sun, smile and greet Ethan, saying "it's great to see him". He nods his head, but keeps quiet.

When we reach our suite, Ryker says he'd like a shower and disappears into our room. That's when I remember I've not really cleaned it for a while and rush in after him. "Sorry, sorry, I'll clean this up now" I say beginning to pick-up the clothes and other stuff, I've left over the floor.

"You can move your stuff back into your room" Ethan says and my heart misses a beat. I straighten up and look at him "please don't kick me out. I don't have to sleep on the bed with you.  I'll sleep on the floor.  But please, please, don't make me sleep in another room?" I beg him.

I know only a short chapter sorry.  They will be longer from now.  I just wanted to set the mood with the first two.  Please don't forget to comment and vote, thank you 😊
