Chapter 38 Three More

Ryker POV

We travel much further with the help of the wind.  Only landing after we pass some high mountains and the wind lessens.  We land in a thick woodland area.  Pop catching and killing a wild boar.  Which we roast over an open fire.  I find some wild berries and wash them in the river, flowing nearby.

We eat, pop lets Conall rest.  Then we take off again, after he has called dad and told him roughly where we are.  "We will be meeting alpha Wang.  In the mountains to the east of where he believes the base is.  We will have to shift into our wolves and run with our clothes in our mouths" pop explains.

"I have hair ties that we can wrap around our ankles to hold our clothes.  Kieryn, you'll have to hold on tight to Dante's back" I answer.  "I hope he isn't scared of my wolf?" I say realising he hasn't seen Dante. "He's sitting on a dragon!" Pop says dryly. "True, he's probably seen far more than we can guess" I agree stroking his head.

He looks up from his tablet and smiles at me. "I am worried about what is waiting for us.  If they've managed to convince the one's they created to trust them.  We don't know what we are walking into!" I worry.  "I'm more concerned about how they are controlling them or what they are using to control them" pop states.

My mind starts worrying over all that too.  A short time later Conall starts to fly down towards a very dense mountain side.  When he lands, he shifts into pop's wolf.  She shakes out her fur and scents the air. I strip and help tie pops clothes around her flank and then put mine around my leg, moving a little away from Kieryn and shifting into my wolf.

Kieryn then climbs up onto his back, "Crouch low, little one, we are going to have to climb" he warns him.  I feel Kieryn laying across Dante's broad back and taking fistful of fur to hang onto.  We then start running towards the meeting spot.

"Keep your eyes peeled" pop warns.  I can smell, when we have passed into the pack's territory. We stay near its boundary so as not to scare the pack.  Then we start to travel downwards and I smell the other wolves.  We stop running full out, when we are within 100 meters of them.  We shift and pull on our clothes.  "Kieryn, hide under Ryker's jacket. I'll cloak you so they can't scent you" pop says not taking any chances.

"Alpha Wang, nice to meet you again" pop says greeting the old alpha.  He bows and his warriors all bow too.  Pop and I bow.  "Has much been happening?" Pop asks.  "They have been going about their day as usual" his son answers in English.

"Have you been able to get close enough to scent, how many shifters they may have?" Pop asks. "We have seen two.  But haven't been able to get close enough to scent the base. There are 7 lookouts as well as 2 on the only gate, in or out."  "Thank you, Xia. This is my son Ryker" Pop thanks him.  I nod towards him and he nods back.

"Ryker, go and see how close you can get and see if you can scent out how many shifters they have" pop instructs.  "I'll cloak you once you are around the side" he links. I nod turn quickly and disappear into the trees.

Once I feel pop has cloaked me.  I run and vault over the fence around the base.  I land softly and then run to the main building.  I open up the link, as I can hear some of the soldiers talking. "They are talking about, the mess the lab was in. Saying that one of the shifters is out of hand" pop translates for me.

I climb up to a window and peek through it.  I feel Kieryn also peek inside.  It has individual rooms walled off with a metal mesh for a ceiling. But really it's like one huge warehouse.  All the people inside are wearing full white jumpsuits.  I see some sleeping in bunks towards the back of the building.  "Pop cloak Kieryn" I link. "Kieryn, see those men. We need one of their passkeys around their neck" I whisper into his ear.
