Strong One

Chapter 17

Ethan POV

The shower turns off and I walk into the bedroom.  "Fin was asking about if we should somehow get a pass for the base.  So we can search it.  In case there are any others like him" I say as they walk out the bathroom.  Ry looks at me for a second, as he towels dry his hair.  "I hadn't thought of that, but yes, we should check, that there are no others. I should think pop will then want to torch the place" he says.

I sit on the bed.  "This is going to be harder to do. Then I thought, but we should first concentrate of getting prepared.  Fin can now control his shifting" I say proudly.  Ry goes to turn, but jumps as Fin licks the water off his back.  When he moves out the way, we see that Fin has allowed just his tongue to shift, but its black and thick.  He smiles as it shifts back again.  "I think, I could shift my arms into paws or talons.  I just have to picture it" Fin tells us.

"That is really good Fin.  I can teach you how to fight and defend yourself" Ry praises him. "Ethan has told me to go with him too.  I'm sure you'll both show me what I need to do.  I'm just happy that I'm here with you both" Fin says sitting next to me on the bed.

"Dad and pop, have arranged for us all to go to Vegas in two days.  We will be greeting all the Alpha's the next day and then holding the meeting over the next two days.  We'll then break for a day before getting together again and trying to come up with a plan" Ryker tells us as he walks into the closet to get dressed.

"What will I have to do?" Fin asks.  Ry walks back out of the closet pulling on a T-shirt. "You shouldn't really have to do much.  They'll be able to smell and sense that you aren't a shifter.  But you might have to shift to show them you do actually have the ability to shift" Ry replies and I sense his unease.

"What is it?" I ask as he walks over and strokes Fin's head.  He sits down on the floor in front of us. "There are going to be some that think we should kill the ones that the humans have created. I'm hoping as Fin is our mate. They'll be able to see that the goddess believes differently" he answers.

I move closer to Fin and put my arm around him.  I really hadn't thought of that.  "But I'm a person too. I have a heartbeat" Fin states.  "Of course, you are.  We won't let anyone hurt you" I assure him. Ry nods and rubs a hand on his knee.

But I can see and feel that Ry is worried about this.  "I can smell the food does that mean its ready?" Fin asks sniffing the air.  I look at the time, "another 5 minutes and it should be ready. I need to put the garlic bread in the oven" I say standing.  "I'll eat a banana" Fin says also standing. "Go ahead I need to look at my school work" Ry tells us.

"I've completed the history assignment, and also copied and changed it so you can submit it" I tell him. "Thanks E, I'll finish of our science assignment" he says. Fin and I leave him and go to the kitchen. Fin sits and picks up a banana, peeling it and eating it. I place the garlic rolls in the oven.  "Do you want a salad or some greens with this?" I call.

"No" "It's up to you" Fin and Ry answer. "It's important to have a well-balanced diet" I tell Fin going to the freezer and taking out some sweetcorn.  I place them in the microwave and put them on.  "Don't have another banana, we are going to sit down now and eat" I tell Fin as I see him reaching for another one.

He pouts but stops.  Ry comes into the kitchen area and rubs Fin's head, "You'll love what we're having tonight. It will fill you up" he tells him.

"You get the potatoes out and do your thing with them" I tell Ry.  He laughs "you'd think cutting them and placing butter in them was hard" he jokes.  "But you do it without destroying the potato" I tell him, as I take the big dish of lasagne out the oven and put it on the table.  Then go back for the now warmed garlic bread rolls.  Ry brings the potatoes to the table as I bring the rolls and sweetcorn.
