Strong One

Chapter 5

Ethan POV

"That's it, talk to him Ethan, he's responding" Soren encourages.  So, I talk about everything in my heart.  That I've wanted to say but didn't.  I use our link mostly as I don't want others to hear, what I'm saying.  I rest a little after hearing his heart beat a little stronger than it was.

I wake-up when Sky walks in to see how everything is.  When I open my eyes, her eyes are wet with tears "he's been in so much pain.  After finding out what he'd been doing to you. He was cutting himself Ethan.  He told pop that he deserved to feel real pain, for everything he'd done to you.  He's worked hard to make himself a better person for you" she tells me.

My own tears fall and I hug him tighter "I'll make sure to talk to him properly, Sis, sorry for worrying everyone again" I tell her.  "You should be honest with each other.  You're mates and love each other.  He'll be fine in a few days.  But he'll not heal properly until you're fully mated and he's been able to shift" she says.  As I digest what she's said she kisses first Ryker and then myself. "I'll tell the kitchen to send some food over.  Eat, don't you get sick as well" she tells me, I nod and she leaves again.

"We have an amazing Sister Ry.  How did she get so mature in just a year?" I ask smiling down at my twin.  I lay next to him hoping he can feel our closeness.  I don't bother Soren as I know he is trying to concentrate his magic to help him heal.

"He hasn't moved even a bit!" I worry to the doc.  "He's getting better though.  His colour is better, heart beat stronger" doc replies.  I glare at him as its not what I want to hear and he leaves us alone again.

"Ry, do you remember the time.  when we were in what? 6th grade and Matthew Grim tore up my drawing, saying that our family wasn't real because we had two dads.  I started to cry and you punched him on the nose and said our family will always be together, but his parents don't even like one another.  Because we had smelt that both parents had been with other people. 

He'd started to cry and the teacher had gone to tell you off.  Then you'd put your hands on your hips and glared at them and said if you had been doing your job properly, I wouldn't have had to stand in and teach him a lesson" I say remembering that, suddenly.

"When our parents had all been called.  You'd also looked at his parents and said, is this the way you teach your child.  He tore up the drawing that E had done of our family and said that we weren't a real family?  Yet you two don't even like one another" I add chuckling at the memory and rubbing my hand over his arm.

"I could see how proud our parents were of you.  They too said that you'd been doing your duty as a brother, as he'd made me cry.  Then when his parents had said again, that you'd punched their son.  Dad had looked him straight in the eye, and said he did, but at least he doesn't cheat and beat up people much weaker than himself.  If you want to take this further, I'll make sure that you are also investigated fully" I continue.

I watch Ry closely and see nothing.  I sigh and play with his fingers disheartened.  "He has had to do this for over a year!  It's only been just over a day" I hear Soren say.  I sit up straighter and nod to myself.

Two days and Ry hasn't moved even a finger! His heart is beating strongly again and there are signs that he's begun to heal as the bruises start to fade.  I've only let the doc change his dressing.  I've been the one to wash him, not wanting others to.  I've not been able to leave his side.  Spending most of the time laying beside him.  Thankfully the beds are a little wider as we need to be as close as possible to our mates. When they are injured or need care.

I put my hand over his heart again "I think once you're fit again, we should go looking for our mate. I dreamt that he is being hurt and don't like it at all. I think we are dreaming of him, as he needs our help. So, Ry please get better soon and come back to me.  I want to be able to hug and kiss you properly" I link him.  I feel a little hint that he is trying to link me back and feel better for it.
