Chapter 48 Happiness and Anger

Griffin POV

The warriors drag the unconscious man away.

"Now do you all have names?" Ryker asks. When all we hear is a lot of numbers being repeated back.  We explain to them that they can have a proper name. Then explain what a proper name is and that it will be what everyone calls them, we ask them to chose one they think fits them.  I stay and help, assuring those a little scared still, that they are safe now.  I take care of the last two, taking them to supplies and then showing them around and showing them their room.  I have to explain what everything is and how they use them.  But I enjoy this as I see their surprise and also joy knowing that they can call this home.

I can often sense what they may find interesting and lead them to it.  These new arrivals have travelled along way and just want to rest, so after I've explained how things work and after  showing them how to turn the shower on and off, a few times and how to adjust the water temp.  Something they seem to know nothing about.

I tell them to link myself or Ryker if they need something or to ask any of the other pack members nearby, before leaving them.

"Fin dinner" E links.  I go out nodding to pack members, still surprised at how I'm now living my life.  I see Ryker, bend down and kiss E's cheek and the warm feeling I get is reassuring and warms my heart.  "Meat lovers pizza tonight Fin" Ryker says kissing me as I sit down.  Kieryn and Kai are already eating a smaller pizza.

Ryker goes to get the pizzas.  "New arrivals alright?" E asks "tired they had a long trip. Didn't help as they had an antiloper with them" I answer.  "Interloper," Ry corrects putting the pizzas down on the table.

"If you say so, anyway the warriors have him locked up" I say.  "All new arrivals have rooms and the basic essentials. If you could check on them and see if you can find some more clothes and thing's they'll need, that would be great" Ry tells E.

"Don't forget our date? What time should I be ready?" I ask "I booked a table for 6pm, we can take our time over dinner and then the night is ours" E answers. I see him glance at Ryker. Ryker smiles and nods, but I can tell something is bothering him.

We eat the wonderful pizza.  I have another couple of slices just in case, I'm pregnant and the little one, thinks of steeling my food.  I feel someone linking Ry and look over at him, his eyes turn hard and he glances at me.

"Fin, can you come over to the holding cells with me please.  I need your help" he links, I nod and hear him telling E that we are leaving for the other pack.  "See you later, I'll get the kids ready for bed" E says.  Ry strokes his head before standing and waiting for me.

When we are driving to the pack, I look at Ryker, "it's the council man.  The one we caught earlier.  He is yelling loudly, about the fact that he is a council member and scaring the pack" he explains. "Is he the one that helped sell us up stream?" I ask "down stream and yes, he is" he answers.

"Up, down its still a stream" I say wondering why it matters. "When people our having a hard time, we refer to them as being down, down on their luck and such, so we relate down to bad things.  When people are feeling good, doing well. We say, they are up on top, on the way to the top.  Climbing up the ladder, so we relate up, top, with good things" Ry explains.

"Why can't you just say? I'm feeling awful, I'm out of luck, hey look at me I'm doing great. No-one can stop me?" I argue.  Ry shrugs "I think most of the new words made, are made by people who are bored.  When others hear it, who are also feeling bored, they start to use it too and it becomes a thing" Ry explains.

"Why are they bored? They are people with brains, intelligence.  Shouldn't they use that, and not be bored?" I retort totally done with language in general.  Ry chuckles and rubs my head.  He drives up to the holding cells and we can hear the man being held, yelling at the top of his voice.
