Chapter 8

There's nothing.

The address here at Valenn that Dwight gave me is another abandoned house and I didn't find anything useful to track Gale down. I'm back to zero with lots of questions. Fuck.

Isa pang bumabagabag sa akin ay si Val. After that night, she used an invisibility spell to cloak herself. I didn't see her again after that. I don't even understand why she's here. I'm sure that their classes have already started, and Haling Cove is so far from here.

"What are you thinking?" tanong sa akin ni Raven.

I'm sleeping here in our room again which made Quinn so disappointed. But she can't do anything about it. Raven is so possessive of me, especially now that she knows my humanity is on.

"Val." simpleng sagot ko.

Napangisi siya. "Don't tell me you're starting to fall in love with her again?" pang aasar niya.

Sinamaan ko lang siya ng tingin. Val is giving me headaches. How can she think like that? This girl is crazy.

"Or maybe it's the other way around." muling sabi niya. "Is there a person in this world who doesn't have a crush on you?"

"Yeah, you." sa pagkakataong ito ay ako naman ang napangisi ng malapad. "Unless you have a crush on me too."

"Don't be disgusting, Olivia." she said, rolling her eyes. "Go take a bath. We'll be late to school again."

Ginawa ko ang sinabi niya. I'll just focus on studying. Damn it. I'll be busy again and I don't know if I can still find time to look for Gale. Duty will start next week. I don't even know why I took nursing. Kung alam ko lang na ganito ang mangyayari ay sana ibang course nalang ang kinuha ko. The good thing is, the hospital was built beside the school. And our shift is only 8 hours per day and 3 days per week. The other 2 days are for regular classes.

Tristan is taking Architecture, while his sister takes Psychology. Johanna is taking Education, which is not surprising because she's good with kids. Raven takes Engineering.

We barely see each other in school because aside from it being so huge, we're in different buildings. Ang madalas ko lang nakikita ay si Quinn dahil nasa pagitan ng mga buildings namin ang napakalawak na student lounge ng Valenn University. She has friends but she said she prefers to be with me.

My morning classes went well as usual. And like every single day, no one dared to speak with me. Which is fine.

Quinn texted me to meet her again at the student lounge. She wants us to have lunch together. She said she cooked something this morning.

Ilang minuto din akong naghintay hanggang sa matanaw ko siyang naglalakad papalapit sa akin. Kumunot ang noo ko dahil parang may kakaiba sa kanya ngayon. Usually, she's so happy to see me. But now, she looks stressed or pissed off.

"What happened?" tanong ko sa kanya nang makalapit siya sa akin.

Umupo siya sa tapat ko at ipinatong ang mga dala niyang pagkain. "You see, I'm always the top of all my classes. Not until someone showed up and took my spot in one of my major subjects." she said grumpily.

Natawa ako sa sinabi niya. Akala ko naman ay kung ano na ang nangyari. Quinn can be really competitive sometimes.

"It's only been weeks since classes started. I'm sure you can take your spot back." pagpapagaan ko ng loob niya.

Ngunit hindi ito umepekto. "I don't think I can. That witch is really smart. She just transferred here but she's already famous in our department. Fucking Parker."

Mabilis na naglaho ang ngiti ko dahil sa sinabi niya. "Parker?"

I hope it's not what I think it is.

"Yes. I can't remember her name though." sinimulan niyang ayusin ang mga pagkain sa mesa.
