Chapter 16

"For a young vampire, you're really good at controlling your bloodlust." bulong sa akin ni auntie Vera habang naglalakad kami.

It's our sixth day here at Greenhill and we were so busy that I didn't have the chance to roam around. There are so many people who need medical attention. Aunt Vera told the other students to go back where we're staying while she made me stay because there's one more house we need to visit.

"I had a hard time controlling it when I just turned, but my sister helped to overcome it. It took me a month." paliwanag ko sa kanya. "What's the case of our final patient?"

She read something in her files. "It's not that serious. The kid got into an accident earlier while playing and he has cuts all over his body. We just need to disinfect the wounds and administer the medications that the town doctor prescribed."

Napatango ako sa sinabi niya. Another reason why I can't roam around is because aunt Vera is so strict. She won't allow us to go outside at night, and since she's a vampire, I can't sneak out easily. I can if I use magic, but I don't want her to suspect me. It's enough that aunt Riley knows I'm also a witch.

"By the way, Olivia. I will let you and the other kids explore the town tomorrow. We all need a break." nakangiting sabi ni auntie. "I'll compel the others not to talk about it with other students so that we won't get caught."

Halos magningning ang mga mata ko sa sinabi niya. "Really?" hindi makapaniwalang tanong ko.

She nodded. "Yeah. I lived here with my family for a very long time and I want to visit the place where we used to live."

Oh. She will go back there. I want to go with her, but there's someone I want to visit.

"Thank you, Miss Vera." nakangiting sabi ko.

Tinapik niya lang ang aking balikat at nagpatuloy na kami sa paglalakad.

"Here we go again. The hardest part of being a vampire." bulong ko.

Narinig iyon ni auntie kaya natawa siya. We're here in front of the house of our last patient for today. Sinalubong kami ng isang lalaki na sa tingin ko ay tatay ng batang pasyente namin.

He smiled at us. "Thank you for coming. My son is inside."

Nagkatinginan kami ni auntie Vera. We can't just go inside without being invited in. Napansin naman ng lalaki na hindi pa kami pumapasok.

"I'm sorry, you can come in." ngiti niya sa amin at pinapasok kami sa loob.

We went inside a room, and I almost dropped my bag when I saw the kid lying in his bed. Nanginginig ang mga tuhod kong lumapit sa kama.

"How are you?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"Not okay. My whole body hurts." halos naiiyak na sabi niya.

I bit my lower lip as I stared at him. Naramdaman ko ang pag init ng sulok ng aking mga mata.

"I'm Olivia, and I'm gonna disinfect your wounds." pakilala ko sa kanya. "What's your name?"

"Elton Wells." he briefly answered.

Ngumiti ako sa kanya. "Nice to meet you, Elton. How old are you?"

"Six."

He looks a lot like Asher. It's like I'm face to face with him. There's no denying that this young boy is his younger brother.

"You can handle this alone, right Olivia?" tanong sa akin ni aunt Vera. "I need to talk to his parents."

Wala sa sariling tumango ako kay auntie. I still can't believe that I'm face to face with Asher's brother and that I'm inside the house where he grew up.
