Chapter 43

Halos mapatakip ako ng tainga sa lakas ng hiyawan ng mga tao. The school is open for outsiders, kaya naman napuno ang sobrang laking gymnasium ng Valenn University.

The crowd went louder when the candidates started to hit the runway. Maging ang mga kaibigan ko at ni Olivia ay wagas kung makatili. Kami lang ni Jed ang tahimik na nanonood. Nakapako lang ngayon ang tingin ko kay Olivia. She's really good at this. Late siyang nakasama sa mga rehearsal pero nagagawa niyang makipagsabayan sa iba.

"Go Livvy!" malakas na sigaw ni Cole.

"I love you, Z!" tili naman ni Quinn.

"I will kill you if you don't win, Olivia!" Jassy shouted.

The nursing department is cheering the loudest. Aside from the title holder being from their department, they just won Mr. Valenn yesterday. Olivia said she's pressured, but from what I see now, she's good at managing it. Walang mababakas na kaba sa kanyang mukha. She looks so confident.

"I'm sure she's gonna win." humahalakhak na sabi ni uncle Kinley sa isang gilid.

May hawak pa siyang camera at kinukuhanan ng mga litrato si Olivia. He's really weird. He acts like he cares for Olivia when she's not around but when she is, he's always mad at her. Like really mad. He's always shouting at her.

"Of course she'll win. I believe in her." nakangising sabi ni aunt Vera.

"You shut up. You wanted to compel the judges so she could win. Good thing I saw through your plan." wika naman ni aunt Riley.

Napangiwi ako sa usapan nila. I agree with aunt Riley. If aunt Vera compelled the judges for her to win, I'm sure Olivia wouldn't accept it. She's proud and arrogant. I personally believe that she doesn't need it either. I know she will win.

When it was Olivia's turn to introduce herself, the crowd went wild. Even people from outside and students from other departments cheer on her. I can't blame them. She's so fucking gorgeous.

The event followed the program. I heard after the talent portion, they will choose the Top 5. The other candidates are actually good too. During the talent portion, some danced and sang. Some also performed some acts. When it's already Olivia's turn, I can't help but be nervous. I still don't know what she will do.

"What will Z do?" tanong ni Johanna sa isang gilid.

"I don't know." sagot ni Raven. "She doesn't want to tell me, but I guess she'll sing."

"I've never heard her sing. Now I'm excited." saad ni Quinn.

I'm excited too. We all are. Cole and uncle Kinley both prepared their cameras to take a video. My mouth formed an o when Olivia went to the stage while holding a guitar. She really is going to sing.

I gulped when she began strumming the guitar. Damn, she's pretty good.

"I took my love, I took it down"

Nagsitayuan ang mga balahibo ko nang magsimula siyang kumanta. Natahimik ang lahat ng tao sa gymnasium. Quinn even dropped the cardboard she was holding.

"I climbed a mountain and I turned around

And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills

Napatingin ako sa mga tao sa paligid ko. Halos lahat ng kaibigan ko at kaibigan ni Olivia ay napangaga. The only ones who are not shocked are Val, Cole, uncle Kinley and aunt Vera. They're all smiling while watching Olivia. Ibinalik ko ang tingin ko sa kanya. After hearing her sing, I think I fell in love even more. I know it might sound corny, but her voice is the most beautiful voice I've ever heard.
