Chapter 22

"What are your names?"

"I'm Olivia Josette! But you can call me Josie." ngiting ngiti pa siya nang magpakilala.

Nanahimik lang naman si Kai na ngayon ay nakahalukipkip habang malayo ang tingin. I bit my lower lip. He's got an attitude and I don't know why he's like that. Jasper and Chloe raised them well. None of us thought him to be like this.

Napangiwi si Jassy. "You named your kid after you?" tanong niya habang nakatingin sa akin.

"Is that a problem?" kalmadong tanong ko.

I don't want to be rude around the kids. It's not a good example to them. Especially now that Kai is acting like a bratty kid.

I didn't name them. Arisa did. And she named Josie after me.

Umirap sa akin si Jassy bago bumaling kay Kai. "What about you, kid? What's your name?"

Just like what happened earlier, Kai didn't answer her. Lumukot ang mukha ni Jassy na parang naiinis siya sa bata.

"Kai." tawag ko dito at lumingon naman siya sa akin. "Someone's asking a question. You should answer it." saad ko at ngumiti sa kanya.

He pouted and looked away. "Lucas Malachai." simpleng sagot niya.

God, he really has an attitude and I don't know what to do with it. Maybe I'll ask Tristan later for help. This has to end as soon as possible.

"He really is your kid." komento ni Jassy bago binalingan si Josie at nakipag usap.

Kumunot ang noo ko.

What does she mean by that?

I didn't go to school today so that I can take care of the kids. The others still have classes, and Raven went to see her dad. Hindi pwedeng pumunta si Jasper dito dahil baka makilala siya nila Elijah. Baka may mangyari pa na hindi maganda. Si Jassy lang ang kasama namin dito sa bahay ngayon dahil maagang natapos ang klase niya. I still can't believe that she chose to stay with me and the kids here in the living room. Alam ko naman na malaki ang galit niya sa akin.

Abala sa pag uusap sila Jassy at Josie. They really get along. At mukhang nakuha talaga ni Josie ang loob ni Jassy. I can't blame her. Josie is a really lovely kid.

Nilapitan ko naman si Kai na mukhang agrabyado. "What's wrong, sweetie?" tanong ko sa kanya.

"I don't know the other people here in this house, mom. I don't like them." masungit na sabi niya.

My lips parted slightly on what he said. This is really not good. Habang maaga pa ay kailangan nang putulin ang sungay niya. I don't want him to grow up like this. Mas malala pa siya kay Jed. My brother is cold and distant, but he is not rude.

"That doesn't mean that you should be mean to them." I said calmly.

Kumunot ang noo niya. "But mom, you're the one who told us not to trust strangers." pangangatuwiran niya.

Damn, this is hard. Tristan, I really need you right now. Please come home.

"Baby." mas lalo akong lumapit sa kanya at hinawakan ang kanyang pisngi. "They are not strangers, okay? They're mommy and daddy's friends. You can trust them." pangungumbinsi ko.

Ngunit tila wala itong epekto. Ngumuso lang siya at muling tumingin sa malayo habang nakahalukipkip pa rin. Napahilamos ako ng aking mukha. He's only three but he's acting like he's even more mature than us. Convincing him to trust the others won't be easy.

My phone beeped. I was expecting a text from Raven, but my forehead creased when I saw that it was from an unknown number.

I'll get them back.
