Chapter 29

I blinked a few times when I recognized that I'm in an unfamiliar room. This isn't our house. Where am I?

Kahit nanghihina ay pinilit kong tumayo at iginala ko ang aking mga mata sa paligid. This room is so plain. Walang masyadong gamit at mukhang matagal na itong naabandona.

"Good afternoon, Olivia."

Napadako ang tingin ko kay Chloe na kakapasok lang ng kwarto. Ngumiti siya sa akin at tumabi sa kama.

"Where are we?" tanong ko.

"Town next to ours. It's not safe to go back to our house so we decided to stay here temporarily." she answered.

Napatango ako. Right. Jireh and his goons might attack that place. So it's afternoon already. I'm so sure that aunt Vera is now freaking out because I ran away again. Once I regain my strength, I'll go back to Valenn and watch my friends from afar. I'll also hunt down Gale.

"Your cousin and uncle are on their way. They'll be here in a few minutes." muling sabi ni Chloe.

"Did you tell Raven already that I'm alive?" I asked.

She shook her head. "Not yet. We'll let the two of you talk." tipid siyang ngumiti.

I don't know why but I feel like there's something wrong with her smile. I feel like there's a meaning behind it and that I wouldn't like whatever it is. Ipinilig ko ang aking ulo. Maybe I'm just overthinking.

"I'm sorry for getting you caught up in this, Chloe. You deserve to be happy and safe with your family." wika ko ng puno ng sinseridad.

Maybe if they didn't meet... If Raven didn't save me that day... They're living happily right now. No life threats. No dangerous people lurking around.

"Don't ever apologize, Olivia. You didn't want any of this so we don't blame you. I'm actually thankful that you came into our lives. Raven's happier since you came." she held my hand. "No matter what happens, you're part of this family. We'll all get through this together."

I bit my lower lip to prevent myself from crying. I'm surrounded by wonderful people and I don't know what I did to deserve them. Sa kabila ng mga kamalasan na nangyari sa akin, I still consider myself lucky because of the people around me.

"Thank you, Chloe." yan nalang ang nasabi ko.

"I love being a vampire." malungkot siyang ngumiti. "But I sometimes miss being a human. I always wonder what will be our life if Jasper and Raven aren't supernaturals. If only there's a way for all of us to live a normal life. No magic, no vampires, and no werewolves."

Napaisip ako sa kanyang sinabi. I love being supernatural too, but I sometimes wish we're all normal. Especially because of Josie and Kai. I want to take their magic, if possible. I want them to live normally.

Magic is the source of everything. If there's no magic, there won't be any witch, vampire or werewolf. Until now, no one knows where magic originated.

"I understand." saad ko. "I feel that way too sometimes." dagdag ko pa.

"Thank you for taking me here, dad. I can't be at Valenn because everything there reminds me of Liv." namamaos na sabi ni Raven. "Where's mom?"

They're here. Mula sa kwarto kung nasaan kami ni Chloe ay dinig ko ang usapan nila Jasper at Raven. Napalunok ako. Namamaos ang boses niya at halatang wala siyang tigil sa pag iyak.

"Third room on the left." simpleng sagot ni Jasper.

"I'll go now." ngumiti sa akin si Chloe sa huling pagkakataon bago naglakad papunta sa pinto.
