Chapter 38

"I won't let you die, Kaylee. I won't stop until I find a way to perform that spell. You'll be alright. I assure you that." pagpapakalma sa akin ni Olivia.

We are now at the vacation house where we used to stay. I don't usually cry, but I can't help it after hearing everything Gale said. I'm not afraid to die. I'm afraid of being left behind. I just stared at her, memorizing every single detail of her face.

"I don't want you to die." humihikbing sabi ko.

She flashed a sad smile. "But I already died, Kaylee. More than 3 years ago. It hurts me thinking that some of my loved ones will die, but you'll be safe. The kids, Raven, Val, your friends. You will all live."

Umiling ako. "I want you to live too. I want my family to live. I don't want to be left alone."

Niyakap niya ako. "I'm sorry. You need to go home now, Kaylee. Spend more time with them. Make them feel how much you love them. I don't want to die either, but I don't think we can still do anything about it."

Less than 3 weeks is too short. I still want to get to know her better. I want to spend more time with her. Sobrang sakit isipin na mawawala siya sa akin agad. Nanghihinayang ako. Kung sana ay nakilala ko siya ng mas maaga. Kung sana ay napagtanto ko ang nararamdaman ko sa kanya ng mas maaga.

Without hesitation, I kissed her. She didn't move for a while but she eventually kissed me back. I just want to kiss her forever.

"I lo—"

I didn't get to finish what I'm about to say because we heard a harsh knock on the door. Mabilis kaming napahiwalay sa isa't isat.

"I'll get the door. I'm sure that's Raven." nahihiyang sabi niya bago nagtungo sa pinto.

Sinundan ko lang siya ng tingin. Pareho kaming nagulat nang imbis na si Raven, si Val ang bumungad sa pinto. Nasa likuran niya si Raven na nakayuko, sila auntie Vera at auntie Riley na parehong seryoso, at si uncle Kinley na matalim na nakatingin kay Olivia.

Humakbang papalapit si Val kay Olivia, at napaawang ang bibig ko nang malakas na dumapo ang palad niya sa pisngi nito. Hindi ako ang nasampal, pero parang naramdaman ko yung sakit. That was a very hard slap.

"You have no idea how mad I am right now, Olivia." she said angrily.

Nakapako ang mga tingin ni Olivia sa sahig, tila hindi alam ang sasabihin. Gulat na gulat pa rin ako sa aking nasaksihan. Ni minsan ay hindi ko pa nakita si Val na magalit ng ganito. What did Olivia do for her to be this mad?

"Val, let me explain." Olivia said, stuttering.

Olivia is supposed to be proud and arrogant. Is she that afraid of Val? Why is she stuttering?

"You lied to me a lot, Olivia! I gave you a lot of chances to tell me the truth, but you didn't!"

"We should get out of here." wika ni aunt Riley. "Let's give them some privacy."

Lumapit sa akin si aunt Vera at hinila ako palabas ng bahay. Nanatili ang tingin ko kay Olivia na nakayuko pa rin hanggang sa tuluyan kaming makalabas.

"That was scary." bulong ni Raven sa tabi ko.

The house is spelled, that's why I can't hear Olivia and Val anymore. Gusto kong pumasok ulit sa loob. Gusto kong marinig ang kung ano mang pinag uusapan nila. Hindi ko maiwasang hindi magselos. Fuck this.

"Aren't you mad? Your sister just got slapped." pinilit kong kalmahan ang boses ko.

She's so protective of Olivia. I expected her to get mad at what Val did.
