Sunoos's POV
As we finished our invigorating dance session in the dance studio with Mr. Jung, I couldn't help but to feel proud after receiving a good comment. But then my happiness was short-lived.
I noticed while scanning through my backpack that my yellow notebook, the one that I took notes with of all the lessons today, was nowhere to be found. I felt so disappointed for not being careful with my things. Chaewon and Garam helped me look through the classroom but it was not there.
''It's okay guys, go to your activities you might get late, it wasn't really important at all'' I told the two, but the truth is, it was important. I had so many notes there. With a heavy heart, I went to the library in Building 1, for my second activity, which is Reading.
Entering the serene ambiance of the library, I couldn't help but feel a sense of solace amidst the towering bookshelves and the faint scent of aged paper. As I perused the rows of books, my gaze landed on a science book titled "The Stars and Its Wonders." I was really a science lover since I was a kid and I was intrigued by the secrets and mysteries of the universe, so I picked it up and settled into a nearby sofa spot
Just as I began immersing myself in the captivating chapters of cosmic wonders, I sensed someone's presence nearby. Turning my head, I saw Heeseung standing by my side. Heeseung's second activity is reading too?! I thought as I looked at him. With his sharp intellect and passion for learning, was a familiar face around the library, as students kept looking at us.
"Mind if I join you Sunoo?" Heeseung asked politely, gesturing towards the empty chair at the table.
I smiled warmly, I was happy for the company. "Of course, feel free to sit!". He went to the other side of the sofa and thanked me. I was happy my first interaction with an ace was good.
"Lee Heeseung, nice to meet you" Heeseung reached his hand out as he sat.
"I'm Kim Sunoo!" I said as I shook his hand.
"You were really good earlier, it's been a long time since Mr. Hoon gave a nice comment like that" I felt like blushing in front of him so I looked down and just thanked him then followed "You were amazing too!" He let out a small chuckle and started reading his History book.
As we dove into the enchanting world reading, "H-Hi..." a soft voice interrupted our peaceful study. It was Niki! The quiet boy from earlier. He held something in his hands that left me speechless-the long-lost yellow notebook.
"You're Kim Sunoo right...? I-I found this notebook under your desk earlier, I think you left it" He held the notebook in front of me.
With genuine surprise and gratitude, I accepted the notebook from Niki's outstretched hand. It was a serendipitous moment, I hugged my notebook out of delightness.
"Thank you so much, Niki, you're a lifesaver! I thought I had lost this forever!" I expressed, my voice filled with gratitude.
Niki had his face adorned with a small smile, nodded in acknowledgment. Although he seldom spoke, his actions conveyed a deep understanding and kindness that spoke volumes.
Heeseung, ever observant, realized the significance of the situation. "Niki, why don't you join us for reading?" he suggested, offering the empty seat beside them.
To my delight, Niki's smile grew bigger and he silently obliged. And so, we sat together, each absorbed in our chosen book. In that quiet corner of the library, we discovered that friendships could be formed through reading as words were exchanged sparingly between us.
Heeseung's POV
As I was walking through the tall bookshelves, a book stood out for me "Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond...Interesting..." My older brother has talked a lot about this book being good, I guess this was finally the right time to read it.
"Heeseung, you can sit here"
"There are still lots of spaces here Heeseung"
"You can read here Heeseung" girls offered me seats, but then I saw someone, that Sunoo boy, he was reading alone. For some reason I wanted to sit beside him so I took this chance and went up to him.
"Mind if I join you Sunoo?" I asked him with a smile, and he agreed. I introduced myself, so did he. I started a small conversation by complementing his moves earlier at the dance studio, he let out a chuckle, he was cute as I saw him blushing, cheeks turning bright pink. As I was reading, I couldn't help but steal gazes at him, it was like my eyes were metal, and his aura was a magnet.
"H-Hi..." A boy greeted out of nowhere, it was...N...Ni-...Niki, yeah, Nishimura Niki. He was also good earlier at dancing. He returned a yellow notebook to Sunoo, it was a bright yellow notebook, matching his bag. A smile formed at my lips as he hugged the notebook.
"Niki, why don't you join us for reading?" I asked Niki, hoping that the three of us would get along with each other, eventually starting fresh and unbreakable bonds, and I was right. Conversations were made, chuckles and giggles were let out, and a new friendship was formed.
Niki's POV
I sat in awe as Sunoo took the stage, his movements was captivating the entire room. The intensity and passion with which Sunoo danced were simply breathtaking. Every leap, every twist, seemed to be executed with a perfect blend of skill and emotion. I don't know if he went to dance school or something, but he seemed to be trained well.
''You delivered a performance that is both powerful and poignant" My eyes widened in shock when Mr. Jung praised Sunoo. The praise seemed reserved for only the most exceptional dancers. But even if I'm shocked, it was clear to me that Sunoo possessed a talent that surpassed Mr. Jung's expectations.
"Ni...Nishimura niki" I couldn't help but feel nervous.
"You're from Japan?" Mr. Jung asked me while looking at his folder
"Yes sir"
"There are many students who danced well that came from Japan'' Mr. Jung added while gazing at me. That statement added a lot of pressure to me, but I thought of it as a test.
"Song?" Mr. Jung asked me.
''Fever by Enhypen''
''~Neo ttaemune onmomi taolla, Neo ttaemune simjangi mongmalla, Like a fever, fever, fever, fever~" As the song started, I danced, pouring my heart and soul into each step, hoping to receive recognition from Mr. Jung.
"Energy and precision is good, but you need to convey more emotions, and work on your timing too, move with the beat" Mr. Jung's feedback was a blend of both compliment and criticism, I was slightly disheartened but determined to improve.
Later in the day, I found myself in the library for our second activity, searching for a quiet place to gather information about my book. To my surprise, I spotted Sunoo engrossed in a book, accompanied by Heeseung, one of the aces. I remembered Sunoo's notebook, I hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether to approach them or not.
But after a while of thinking, I gathered up my courage, I approached Sunoo with a warm smile.
"H-Hi..." I greeted softly, holding up the yellow notebook I had found earlier.
"You're Kim Sunoo right...? I-I found this notebook under your desk earlier, I think you left it"
I saw Sunoo's eyes widened with surprise, a smile forming on his lips. "Thank you so much, Niki, you're a lifesaver! I thought I had lost this forever!"
Then as I was about to leave, Heeseung invited me to join them. "Niki, why don't you join us for reading?"
For a moment I was stunned, my heart swelled with gratitude at their kindness. I obliged and took a seat, feeling a sense of belonging that I haven't felt since my arrival at Gangnam National College. As we delved into our own books, we interacted like we already knew each other before, with Heeseung starting topics, and Sunoo giggling whenever we made small jokes. At that very moment, I felt like I had found friends who would support and inspire me on my journey.
