Jungwon's POV
Driving to the mall with Jay was always a treat. His laughter and energy were infectious, and today was no different. We chatted about our plans for the day, and I couldn't help but smile at his playful teasing.
As we strolled through the mall, I spotted a few things I liked, a couple of trendy outfits and a new perfume that looks just like the one Jay uses.
"Do you think your perfume would suit me?" I asked, holding up the bottle for him to see.
Jay took the perfume, giving it a sniff and then grinning. "Definitely. You'd smell amazing wearing it, just like me."
I chuckled, feeling a sense of contentment. We continued shopping, and he was more than happy to help me pick out a few shirts.
Once we were done, we settled into a coffee shop, enjoying our drinks and each other's company. But then, out of nowhere, Jay's expression shifted as his phone buzzed with a text. His mood seemed to change instantly, his brows furrowing and his smile fading.
I watched him curiously, "Hey, is everything okay?"
He let out an irritated sigh, fingers tapping on the table impatiently. "Yeah, it's nothing. Just some stupid text."
As he spoke, I could feel the atmosphere in the air change, like a dark cloud had suddenly cast a shadow over us.
I hesitated, my heart sinking at his sudden shift in demeanor. "Y-You sure? You seem really upset."
Jay's gaze flickered towards me briefly before he turned his attention back to his phone. "I said it's nothing. Just drop it, okay?"
The dismissive tone stung, and I felt hurt. This had been happening quite frequently lately, Jay's mood swinging out of nowhere, often leading to these uncomfortable moments. He'd never apologize or explain, just brushing it off as if it was nothing.
I mustered up a small smile, determined to bring back the light-hearted conversation we had been having earlier. "You know, we should totally plan a movie night this weekend. Watch all those horror films we've been talking about."
Jay's gaze remained distant, his gaze still fixed on his phone "Mhm..." he muttered absentmindedly, his tone lacking its usual enthusiasm.
Undeterred, I leaned forward, trying to catch his eye. "Come on, it'll be fun. We can make popcorn and have a marathon."
His eyes finally met mine, but the look he gave me was cold, almost annoyed. "Jungwon, enough."
I blinked, taken aback by the sharpness in his voice. His attention returned to his phone, his fingers tapping more urgently now. I watched him in silence, my heart aching.
I took a deep breath, my words catching slightly as I tried again. "Jay, I don't understand what's going on. Did I do something to upset you?"
He sighed, his gaze lifting reluctantly to meet mine. "It's not about you, okay? Just... Just let me be. Let's go? I'll drop you home."
I nodded slowly, the weight of his dismissive words settling heavily on my shoulders. With a heavy sigh, I followed him to the car.
The drive home was tense, the air in the car thick with unease. Determined to bridge the gap between us, I attempted to start another conversation.
"Did you see that new movie trailer. The "All Fun Amd Games"?" I asked, trying to sound casual.
Jay's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and he glanced at me briefly before refocusing on the road. "Mmm."
