Jake's POV

The tension in the air was heavy as I walked away from Heeseung, his stern words echoing in my mind. He'd told me to go home, to leave him to settle this on his own, and against my better judgment, I'd reluctantly agreed.

As I moved further from the scene, strange premonitions began to flash before my eyes. The first was a near miss with a speeding car at an intersection. My heart raced as I stepped back just in time to avoid being hit. It was as though the universe was trying to warn me about something.

Ignoring these warning signs, I continued on my way, thinking I was being paranoid. I mean, how often did premonitions like these actually come true, right?

But then, there it was—a second premonition that chilled me to the core. As I was waiting for the stoplight to turn green to cross, a girl in her phone started sobbing, "What are you saying?! How the hell did Mom end up in the hospital?!" Worry started to grow on me as I gulped in nervousness.

And then, as if the universe was trying to spell it out for me, I saw a road sign that simply said "DANGER." My heart pounded in my chest as I considered what that sign might mean, especially in the context of Heeseung's current situation.

Fueled by my mounting fears and a gnawing sense of urgency, I turned back and broke into a sprint. I couldn't leave Heeseung alone in this dangerous situation. There was something foreboding about those premonitions, and I wasn't about to ignore them.

Heeseung's POV

As students surrounding me closed in on me, their anger fueled by Beomgyu's relentless taunts, I felt the weight of their collective rage pressing down on me. I tried to defend myself, landing a few punches and kicks in the process, but the sheer numbers overwhelmed me.

The blows rained down on me from all sides. Sticks struck my body, shoes delivered brutal kicks, and a sea of fists pummeled me mercilessly. Blood started to come out from my nose and mouth. Beomgyu's voice cut through the chaos, his taunts driving their anger to greater heights.

"Just a taste of your own medicine, Heeseung! How does it feel to be on the receiving end for once?" Beomgyu's voice was triumphant, enjoying the sight of me suffering.

I grunted, struggling to breathe as the onslaught continued. But then, "HEY YOU MOTHERFUCKERS! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HIM!" A commanding shout pierced through the chaos. Shit... Why did he come back...?

I watched in utter disbelief as Jake, with a fiery determination in his eyes, sprang into action. He began by throwing his bag at one of the guys, taking him by surprise. But it was clear he was outnumbered, and the others quickly overpowered him.

But instead of trying to escape or defend himself, Jake did something entirely unexpected. He wrapped his arms around me on the ground, using his own body as a shield, absorbing the blows that were meant for me.

"Jake? JAKE? What the fuck are you doing?!" I cried out in disbelief, panic surging through my veins. He was taking the hits meant for me, his body absorbing the punishment in my place.

Amid the chaos and the pain, Jake held me tightly, refusing to let go. He muttered reassuring words, his voice muffled by the sound of the struggle surrounding us.

"It's okay, Heeseung... I've got you," he whispered, his voice strained. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, staining his lips.

Tears welled up in my eyes as the realization of Jake's selfless act washed over me. He was enduring this agony for my sake, sparing me from the torment that should have been mine.

"JAKE NO! STOP IT! STOP!" I screamed in desperation, my voice cracking with fear and anguish. I tried to push Jake off me, to shield him from further harm, but he clung to me with a fierce determination that defied the pain he was enduring.
