We were back on the road, and traveling again. Alex drove, and I mainly just changed the CDs when needed. We didn't make many stops, and I am someone that pees a lot. I'd give him a warning, and he'd look so annoyed.

"Again?" He asked. I would nod, and start looking for rest stop signs.

Alex would pee too, but guys do it so fast. I started out of the rest stop, and saw Alex on his phone. He was talking to someone, and he kept looking around.

I slowly opened the door and left. I looked down at the ground, pretending I didn't see him. He quickly hung up the phone and slid it into his pocket. He walked up to me, and started walking next to me. I smiled.

"Ready to go?" He asked. I nodded, and we started to the car.

"Are you sure you wanna drive? I can for a little bit if you wanna rest," I offered. Alex shook his head.

"Nah, I know where we're going now. Won't be much longer," he said. I rolled my eyes when he turned his back. We both got in the car, and he drove some more. I tried to sleep, but I just couldn't anymore.

"So, what state are we even in?" I asked. Alex got into the far left lane, and started speeding even more.

"Alabama," he said. He moved one hand off the wheel, and let it rest on the car door. That made me uneasy, especially with how fast we were going. He may not be able to die, but I sure could.

"Um, are we close to the beach?" I asked. I was trying to get my mind off how fast he was driving.

"Yeah. We're actually almost to Mississippi, and then it's just a few more hours to Louisiana," he said. I had no idea how he knew all this. I cleared my throat and shifted in my seat.

"So where are we stopping?" I asked. He brought his hand back to the wheel. He gripped both ends, and kept his focus on the road.

"What's with all the questions?" He snapped. "You knew we were going on a road trip. We're on the road and we're tripping across the states!"

As he yelled, the car swerved around. I kept looking around at the cars we were passing. I was surprised we didn't knock off someone's mirror, or our own.

"Alex, calm down. Is it really that bad to ask what's going on?"

"Hayley, can you please stop?" He yelled back. He turned to look at me, and met my eyes. We both froze.

"Alex?"

"Huh?"

"The roa-"

We went off into the ditch between the two parts of the interstate. I screamed as we basically flew off the road. The car bounced until it stopped at the bottom.

We both lunged forward as the car stopped. Alex hit his chest on the steering wheel, and I came close to smacking my head on the dashboard.

I quickly unbuckled my seat belt, and pushed the door open. I jumped out of the car, and leaned over. I puked right next to the car. I kept moving my hair out of the way, but it wasn't worth it.

I heard Alex's door slam shut, and then I saw his shoes as he walked up to me. I wiped my mouth and chin with my hand, and Alex wrapped his arms around me. I stood there, awkwardly. I didn't want a hug from him. We were just fighting.

"I'm so sorry," he said. I shook my head. I managed to get out of his arms, and I walked around him. I went to the trunk, and dug through for one of my bags. I got a different shirt out, and changed. I also had to change my shoes.

"Alex, where the hell is my bag?" I yelled. I reached way in the back, and still couldn't find it. "Alex!" I yelled again. I sighed, and slammed the trunk shut. I went to the side of the car, and found Alex slumped against it. He was on the ground, with his back against the car, his head dropped.

"Alex," I screamed. I put my arm under him, and helped him stand. I opened the back door, and put him inside. I got in next to him, and tried to get him to wake up. Now really was not the time to be dying.

I noticed his phone on the floor by the pedals. I reached over, and took it. I went to his recent calls and called the person he'd last talked to.

"Hey, Alex. Are you here yet?" The male voice said. I ran my open hand through my hair.

"I need help. Alex hit his chest, and we're in a ditch, and we're somewhere in Alabama," I told the guy. He asked who I was, but I didn't know how to respond.

"Just- keep the call going. I'll track the phone. Stay where you are, tell me if starts waking," the guy said. I put the phone on speaker, and then set it down.

I started to get a headache, so I laid down. I put my head on Alex's lap, and drifted off.

I woke to find someone driving the car. I reached up, and found that I was still in Alex's lap. I sat up, and looked around. Alex was in the passenger seat, and I was laying in some other guy's lap. Someone else was also driving the car.

"Mornin' darlin'," Alex said. He was turned around so he could see me.

"What the hell is going on?" I asked. I looked between the guy sitting next to me and Alex, over and over again.

"Again with the questions," he said, rolling his eyes. I angrily sighed, and crossed my arms over my chest. This was gonna be a long road trip.
