I had no idea what I was going to do for the 23 hours that Hayley wasn't going to be alive. I knew I needed to be awake when she woke up. If she freaked out, I would need to calm her down. I just laid in the bed, and stared at the ceiling. I thought of ideas to get out of here.
I fell asleep at some point, and woke up to the loud door opening. I sat up quickly, and my heart started pounding in my chest. These people actually had me terrified.
"Tay says it's your turn," the guy said. I was trying to figure out where I knew him from. I knew I'd seen him before, and probably even knew his name. He expected me to come to him, so I stayed on the bed.
"Why do you look familiar?" I asked. I wasn't sure if he'd answer, but it was worth a shot. My breathing was slowly returning to normal.
"Don't you remember me? We were friends briefly in Baltimore," he said. I just kept staring at him, and he sighed. "Oliver Sykes."
"Oh, right! I remember you now. Hey, um, do you think you could get Tay for me? I need to talk to her," I asked. Oli rolled his eyes, but turned and left. I could tell from his backside that he was the one who'd been cutting Hayley open. I almost got up and lunged at him.
Tay came in a while later. She laid on my bed, and I stood in front of her.
"What is it, Gaskarth?" She asked. She looked at her nails instead of me. I looked at my feet, and put my hands in my pockets.
"I wanna come up with a plan to get the journals. I want Hayley out of here unharmed, once she wakes up of course. Don't mess with her again, ever. You can do whatever you want to me, but she gets out. Do you hear me?"
"Oooh, Gaskarth taking charge."
"I'm being serious, Jardine," I said as I leaned onto the bed. I hated what I was going to do, but it had to be done. I had to get her wrapped around my finger.
"This is taking a turn," she said quietly. She finally put her hands down, and stopped looking at her nails. She was looking at me instead. I slowly moved one hand to the other side of her. I was now above her, just staring at her eyes. And then her nose and her nose ring. And lastly her lips. I slowly leaned down, and her arms went around my neck. She put her hands on the back of my head and pulled my head down towards her. Our lips met.
My legs were on either side of her, and I let myself sit on her stomach. I sat back, and looked at her. Just that one kiss was more passionate than the last time I'd had sex with Hayley. I took my shirt off, and leaned back into Tay.
"This is crazy, right?" She asked as I kissed down her neck.
"What? Our families hating each other, but us doing... this. What a cliche," I said. I moved back, and she sat herself up slightly. She took her shirt off, and then laid back down.
"I can't believe this," she said with a smile. I had my hands cupping her cheeks, and our faces were centimeters apart.
"Can't believe what?"
"I'm finally with you," she said. She put on the biggest smile I'd ever seen. I shoved my face against hers, and I swear I heard her laugh.
I unbuttoned my jeans, and then hers. I got mine off, and then pulled hers down. And one more thing I'd never tell Hayley...
Tay drove me back to my parent's house. I was blindfolded so I wouldn't be able to tell them where the headquarters was located. Tay really was smart. More than I gave her credit for.
Once I got inside, I grabbed the box with all of my mom's pregnancy journals. No way in hell was Tay getting my grandparents' stuff. I filled my dad in with a plan I had for Hayley to get to safety. I had to do this all super quick so Tay wouldn't come in and shoot everyone.
She glanced in the box before leaving. She didn't read any of the journals, so I was in the clear. She put the blindfold back on, and then we were off.
Next thing, I was back in my room. I held Tay's hands as I fell onto my bed. She laughed, and sat down next to me. "Today has been amazing," she said. I nodded in agreement.
"I never thought I'd do any of that," I admitted. She pushed some of my hair out of my face, and then ran her hand down my neck.
"I feel kind of bad," she said. She bit her lip, and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Why's that?" I asked. Before I could even comprehend what was going on, she slit my throat. I didn't know where she got the knife from or how it even made it to my throat before I noticed. Again, she was smarter than I gave her credit. She played me when I was trying to play her.
