Hayley's Point of View

I was discharged earlier that day. I felt so much better, it was crazy. It was like seeing Alex somehow made my brain heal itself. I knew that wasn't possible, but there wasn't really an explanation.

Alex drove us back to a hotel. He unlocked a room, and we went inside. It looked pretty nice. It was probably the nicest hotel I'd ever been in.

"Wait here," Alex said. He left the room, and I went into the bathroom. I looked at my head. I knew there was supposed to be some kind of cut there, but there wasn't. My head was completely clear.

I went back out, and sat on the bed. The door opened a little while later. Three guys followed Alex inside. Alex jumped onto the bed, and the guys stood in front of us. "They don't know my secret," Alex whispered as he sat up.

"So, this is Jack, Rian, and Zack," Alex introduced. They all waved at me, and I waved back. It was pretty awkward. "Guys, this is Hayley." I smiled at all of them, and tried to figure out why they were here.

"How do you guys know Alex," I asked. The pauses between conversations were so awkward. I had to fill the silence. I couldn't sit around any longer.

"He went to our school for a while. He moved just before we started high school. We still kept in touch," the middle one said. I couldn't remember his name, but I didn't really need to know it anyway. "How do you know him?"

"I'm his girlfriend," I said, glancing at Alex. He didn't tell them who I was? I needed to be alone with Alex. I had so many questions about what was going on.

We all chatted a while longer, and then it was just Alex and I. We were both seated on the bed in silence again. I had so many questions, but I had to ask them in a way that wouldn't make him mad.

"I need to figure out what happened. We were fighting, and then you went off the road," I stopped there. I intended to keep going, but I couldn't remember. Alex filled in the details. "And then at the hospital, you visited. You went to get something, and then I..."

"You kind of blacked out," he said. I knew that probably happened. I couldn't remember, so I obviously wasn't conscious. He started pacing around the room.

"And then..."

"Then I did something."

"You did something?"

"I'm not ready to tell you."

"Too late, 'cause you did something to me."

"I gave you some of my blood," he finally admitted. He stopped pacing as he said it. He looked right at me, and I looked right at him. My mouth was open from shock.

"And that-?"

"It healed you. But I don't know what other effects it'll have," he told me. I pursed my lips and tried to think of what to say next. This wasn't a normal conversation. Our conversations never seemed to be normal anymore. "Do you feel sick or anything?"

"No, no. I feel fine- perfect- actually," I said. He sighed and sat next to me. He pulled me into a hug.

"I never wanna fight again."

"Neither do I," I said into his shoulder. He'd held on longer than I would have liked, but it was still nice. I smiled as he pulled away.

"So, I think we're going to stay here for a while."

"Okay. This place seems nice," I said. I still had more questions. I was dying to ask them. "Why don't those guys know your secret?"

"You are the only one besides my family," he said. He leaned back, and laid down on the bed. He closed his eyes and let out another sigh.

"Did you get much sleep last night?"

"Barely any. What about you?"

In response, I laid down next to him. I put my head on his chest, and we both dozed off.

We woke up to pounding on the door. We both sat up on the bed, and I looked at him. He put his feet on the floor, and I took his hand. This couldn't be good.

He stood up, and cautiously walked over to the door. He looked in the peep hole, and turned back to me. He opened the door, and one of the guys from before walked in.

"Do you guys wanna have dinner with all of us," he asked. I agreed, mainly because I wanted to learn more about them. Alex agreed just because he needed them on his side. Maybe we were doing it for the wrong reasons, but it was fine with us.

We managed to figure out a time to meet down in the hotel lobby, and then he left. I asked Alex what his name as, and he said it was Rian. I really needed to start learning their names.

Alex and I took turns in the shower, and then consulted each other in figuring out outfits. Alex wanted to match, but not be too matchy. I really didn't care. I was starving.

I didn't have much to choose from, so I was dressed. I did my makeup and hair, and I was still waiting on Alex. He was trying to decide between two shirts.

"Come on," I yelled. I leaned against the door, and groaned some more. We were going to be super late. My stomach growled as we sat around and waited some more. We weren't even at the restaurant yet.

"I'm gonna leave without you," I decided. As I opened the door, he came stumbling over. He finished putting on the shirt, and took the door from me.

"After you," he said with a big smile. I rolled my eyes and walked out. Hopefully the rest of the night would go better.
