Hayley's Point of View
"Your head!" I exclaimed as Alex got out of the cab. Taylor and I both ran over to them. Taylor helped get Jeremy out of the cab, and I looked at Alex's head. He made me sit back down, and he lifted up my shirt.
"I'm fine," I said as Alex started to unwrap the bandage around my stomach. Taylor walked Jeremy over by us, and laid him down next to me.
"You're not fine, Hayley," Alex said. He laid the bandage on his thighs, and started looking at my side.
"Are you gonna die?" Taylor asked. I said 'no' at the same time that Alex said 'yes'. I turned my head quickly to look at Alex.
"I am not going to die," I said. Jeremy was starting to wake up, so the conversation changed. Alex switched me spots, and joined Taylor to help Jeremy stand. Alex was more in front, and Jeremy was gripping his shirt for balance.
Then there was a gunshot. Jeremy pushed Alex away, and he fell backwards. There was a hole in his chest. I pulled my shirt back down, and tried to crawl over to him. The gun was right in front of me, though. Jeremy had dropped it.
"Shoot him!" Alex yelled. I had the gun in my hand, but I couldn't.
"Jeremy! What the fuck? Why did you shoot Alex?" Taylor yelled. They were having their own fight while Alex and I were having ours.
"Hayley, fucking shoot him before he brings us back to those people-" Alex was yelling, and then it turned into groaning. He rolled around a little, and his chest twitched.
"I can't, Alex," I said. I felt like I was going to breakdown crying.
"Those people have been looking for Alex for years, Taylor! We're doing the right thing," Jeremy said.
"How are you that brainwashed?" Taylor asked. I made it to Alex, and I put my hands on his chest. I covered the hole, and pressed on it. Alex screamed, and almost kicked me.
"Shoot him," he managed to get out. Taylor was still arguing with Jeremy, and I didn't know what to do. "He's changed."
"Taylor!" I yelled. He stared down Jeremy for a little longer, and then came over to me. I gave him the gun, and turned away. It was up to him now.
I put my hands under Alex's armpits, and dragged him closer to the street. I got a cab, and tried to get Alex inside. I heard another gunshot, and I jumped. Then Taylor was helping me get Alex into the cab.
The three of us were on our way to the hotel. I looked in Alex's pockets for the room key. If he didn't have it, we'd be screwed.
We dropped Taylor off at the front to get a luggage cart, and then I had the cab bring us around to a side door. I put my arms around Alex, and then brought us over to the door. Taylor opened it, and worked on getting Alex onto the cart. I paid the cab driver, and then ran inside. Of course they were at the hotel. Rian and Jack always knew where we were.
"Go, go, go," I whispered as I closed the door. Luckily it was locked to anyone without a room key. We made it to the elevator, and we went up to the floor. I had to remember the room number, and Alex was barely conscious. I wasn't sure he could even respond if I asked him.
I tried a couple rooms until the door unlocked. We moved Alex onto the bed, and then I laid down next to him. I was too tired from all of this. My side was burning, and I could see the blood on my shirt. It never got wrapped back up.
"Shouldn't we get you guys to a hospital?" Taylor asked. I could see how concerned he was. I had to tell him.
"Can you make sure all the locks on the door are locked?" I asked. He went and did that, and then came back over to me. He held my hand. "Alex and I, we can't die. We'll be back at about midnight, and then we'll get you home."
"They were right? Those people were looking for you guys, and they were right. Jeremy was right," Taylor said. I could see it all coming together in his eyes.
"No, Taylor. T, they're the bad guys," I said. It was getting harder to talk. I moved my hands to my side, and pressed against the cut. I held back my own scream. "Please promise me that you won't bring us back there or call them or let them in."
I screamed a little because my side was getting worse. I was sure I was going to die soon. But I couldn't until Taylor understood. "T!"
"Please don't die, Hayley. This is so much harder than you know," he said. I put his hands over mine. It wasn't actually doing anything. It was just making both our hands bloody.
"I know, T. I've been watching Alex die," I said. My breathing was loud and my chest was moving with every breath. "I've lost so much blood today, and I have no idea how I'm alive right now."
"Are you in pain?" He asked. I could see how watery his eyes were, and it made me want to cry. And I did start crying, which made Taylor cry.
"I'll see you in a couple hours," I said. He moved his hands from my side to my cheeks. He wiped away the tears, but he was still crying. I could feel myself slipping away, and I could see Taylor getting blurry.
The last thing I saw was Taylor holding my hand, and crying harder. I just wanted to hug and comfort him, but I couldn't.
