I sat on the edge of my bed with my feet dangling above the floor. My arms were behind me, supporting me. I tilted my head to the side slightly.
"Hurry up, Alex. You're taking forever!" I yelled. I leaned back on the bed, and groaned. I heard the bathroom door open, and I looked over. He jumped on the bed, and sat on my stomach. He shook his wet hair all over me.
"No!" I squealed as I put my hands in front of my face. He laughed, and got off me. He laid on the bed next to me, and sighed.
"I'm so glad we got this apartment. Just the two of us, doing what we want, having sex whenever we want..." Alex said, and ended up laughing. He took my hand, and laced his fingers inbetween mine.
"My parents are probably super glad we moved out because of all that sex," I said, looking at our hands. There was something wrong with our hands. I looked up at Alex, but his face was different.
"Tom?" I asked. It was so weird to see his face. It was like a stranger was lying next to me
"Hayley, if you can hear me, Alex has been hurting you. He's fucking with your brain, Hayley. You have to wake up, and you have to remember me," Tom said. He got up, and started towards the door.
"Wait, what do you mean remember you? Where are you going?" I asked. I sat up on the bed, and looked towards him. Tom continued out of the room. "Tom!" I yelled as I ran after him.
As I left the room, the whole atmosphere changed. I spun in a circle as I looked at the high walls of Tay's torture chambers. I ran back over to the door to my room, but it had shut itself. I turned the doorknob, but it wasn't budging. I looked behind me, and a table and cart of tools had appeared.
"Alex!" I yelled. I pressed myself against the door as I watched the cart. I felt like the tools would move if I turned away. "Help! Somebody help me!"
The door opened, and I fell back. I landed on the floor, hitting my head on it when I fell. Tom pulled me away, and then shut and locked the door. I could hear his breathing as he paced in front of me.
"What the hell is going on?" I asked, not moving from the floor. He paced around, not paying any attention to me. "Thomas!"
"It's Alex. He's on to us," Tom said as he paced. He stopped, shook his head, and then continued pacing. I pulled myself up, and turned around to face him again.
Now we were in Paris. Tom was in a clean suit, down on one knee, and had a ring box pointed towards me. I took a step back as I processed everything.
"Will you marry me, Hayley?" He asked. I was so choked up; I had no idea what to tell him. Everything was jumping around, and I couldn't tell if this was real.
"Hay?" Alex asked. His voice was filled with excitement as he watched her open her eyes. He grabbed her hand as he stood up. "She's waking up!" He yelled to the nurses.
Hayley opened her eyes as everyone started rushing in. She wanted to scream. She had no idea what was going on. She looked to her side, and Alex was next to her. He was trying to calm her down, but she was looking for Tom. She was mumbling, but no one knew what she was saying. Alex squeezed her hand tighter, and tried to calm her down by whispering stuff to her.
"Was this all a dream?" She managed to yell at him. Everyone went silent. They quickly made sure she was stable, and then left Alex and Hayley in the room alone.
"Hayley, what do you remember?" Alex asked. He positioned himself so he could focus solely on her.
"It was you and Tom... and you had a gun," she said with her eyebrows furrowed. She couldn't remember much more past that, except the dream that she'd just woken up from.
"What? A gun? Hayley..." He stuttered. He couldn't understand what was going on in her head. He had no idea what to say.
"You explain to me what's going on," she decided. He wasn't sure if she was ready to deal with everything that he was gonna have to tell her.
"Well, someone broke into your house. You got up out of bed, but I didn't wake up. You went downstairs, started into the kitchen, and your brother thought you were the person that broke in. He pushed you, and hit your head on the kitchen counter," he told her. He squeezed her hand again, hoping she wouldn't completely freak out. Her parents rushed in, and hugged her. She felt like she was gonna vomit.
"I need a minute," she said. Her parents looked stunned, but backed up and left her alone. Alex lingered, but let go of her hand, and turned to leave. "Not you." Alex stopped in his tracks, and turned back around.
"What happened after I hit my head?" She asked. Alex bit his lip and stood next to her.
"You've been in this bed. We almost lost you a couple times, but you've mostly been comatose," Alex said. He shrugged, and went to reach for her hand again. He stopped himself, and returned his hand to his side.
"How long?"
"Well the break-in was in May, and it's December now..." Alex said. He counted on his fingers. "So, seven months. It's really a Christmas miracle that you're awake."
"I'm still trying to process how I just dreamed everything up."
"What happened? Did you feel like you were living in like an alternate universe?"
"I guess. I thought it was real. It was seven years of my life. Am I still eighteen?"
"For a couple more days. It's my birthday today though, so thanks for the best present ever," he said with a smile. She leaned forward, and put her arms out. He stepped as close as he could, and they wrapped their arms around each other.
A/N: wow I'm sorry for using such a cliche idea. But yeah, it was all a dream. I'm gonna try to get two more chapters out of this to get it to an even 40, so those will just be like what happens after she gets to go home and all that. Hopefully you guys don't hate me too much. And Merry Christmas, happy holidays and all that stuff.
