aren't you a sad little soul

I got off the plane in England, and I couldn't believe I was there. How the hell was I in England? I threw my bag onto my back, and started outside of the airport. I had to find a taxi or bus or something. I stepped out and almost got hit by a car. Why did they have to drive on the wrong side of the road?

I sat on the curb, and opened my backpack up. There was a notebook with a ton of information in it. The first page was titled: After the plane. I skimmed the page and the bottom half was all phone numbers. Above the numbers it said: Ask for William.

It took me a while to find a phonebooth, but it felt amazing to see one. I ran inside as if someone was going to beat me to it. I shut the door behind me, and laid the notebook on the small ledge next to the phone. I got the spare change out of the front pocket of the backpack, and inserted the coins. I put in the first of the phone numbers.

"I'm sorry to bug you, but is there a William there?" I asked. My American accent was very clear against her British accent.

"No, sorry," she told me. I told her to have a great day, and then hung up and tried the next number. I went through the entire list and there wasn't one person named William until the second to last number.

"How did you get this number?" He asked. His voice gave away how defensive he was. I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing. And I also didn't know how to answer the question.

"The Gaskarth's..." I said as quietly as I could. What if he didn't actually know I was coming?

"Where are you?" He asked. I could hear him moving around now. I heard some keys, and then a door shut. I tried to describe the general area to him. Hopefully that airport was the only one around. "Okay, stay on the phone with me, and don't move."

We had small chit-chat while he drove. I noticed a car slow, and then stop right in front of the booth. I tried not to stare, and gripped the phone tighter.

"Did you just pull up?" I asked. My voice was shaking a little. I had a very bad feeling.

"No, no don't move," he said. I rolled my eyes and kept my eye on the door.

"I wasn't planning on it, Will," I said. I watched the car carefully.

"Yeah, my name isn't William," he told me. He was really confusing me. How could I know what was going on? Because I really had no idea what was going on. "I think I'm getting close to you."

"Someone's getting out of the car that pulled up," I said. I was panicking now. I didn't even know who the guy was that I was talking to. What the hell was I apart of?

"I'm almost there."

The person started walking towards the booth. He waved at me slightly. I tried to smile and wave back. "Hurry up," I said into the phone.

"Excuse me," the guy asked. I put the phone against my shoulder and tried to remain calm. He was in the doorway, blocking my only exit. "Are you almost finished?"

"Yeah, I'll just be a couple more minutes," I told him. He nodded and then stood outside the booth. I brought the phone back up to my ear. "Hurry."

William, or whatever his name actually is, finally pulled up. His car stopped just before hitting the other guy's car. He didn't even turn it off as he rushed out. He came right over to the booth and threw the door open.

"Will?" I said into the phone as I stared at the guy in front of me. He stuck his hand out for me to take.

"I told you my name isn't Will." I hung the phone up, and grabbed my notebook. I looped my arm through the strap on my backpack, and then took his hand and followed him out. He ran across the street, dragging me behind him. We got in his car, and he sped off like he'd never parked the car.

"So what is your name?" I asked as I got situated. I put my backpack on the floor and kept the notebook on my lap.

"We're starting with you. What's your name?" He said. I didn't know if I was supposed to tell him my real name or the name Isobel and Peter had put on my ID.

"In America I was Hayley Williams and here I'm... May Chapman,"I told him. I tried to do a British accent when saying the new name, but I think I just offended him.

"And relation to the Gaskarths?"

"Alex's girlfriend," I said. His face changed a little.

"I'm Tom Gaskarth, technically. But my ID says Thomas William. I'm Alex's older brother, the one our parents hid away from the day I was born."

"Why did they hide you?" I asked. It didn't really make sense since they had two other kids that they didn't hide.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," he said with a smile.

"Okay... then why did I have to ask for William if your name is Tom?"

"William is my last name, at least to everyone outside of the family. And it's Alex's middle name. They probably thought you'd make the connection that way."

"They never talk about you," I said softly. It was silent for the next couple minutes. I didn't know if I'd struck a nerve or if we were just done talking.

We came to a very modern-looking building. He pulled into a parking garage, and found a spot. We both got out and I put my backpack on again.

"Have you ever been to America?" I asked as I followed him. His accent was so strong I was sure he'd never left England, but I wanted to fill the silence.

"No, it's a rotten place," he said. I couldn't argue with that.

We went up a lot of stairs until we finally started down a hallway. I just kept silently following him. He stopped in front of a door with the numbers 413B on it. He used a key from his lanyard and unlocked the door.

"After you," he said as he held the door open. I thanked him and walked inside.

A/N: So the picture is supposed to be Tom. I don't know what he really looked like, but I'm saying he looked like Chris Saint. Him and Alex look so alike it blows my mind. Plus he's British, so he fits the part.
