Hayley's eyes slowly opened. Her arms felt sore for some odd reason, and she couldn't remember why. Her eyes had adjusted, but her brain hadn't. She couldn't figure out why her feet weren't touching the floor or why her arms hurt so damn bad.
"Hayley?" Alex asked. He had been fully aware the entire time. They both had their arms chained to the wall. Hayley's were up far enough where she couldn't reach the floor. Alex's were low enough to where he had to crouch down. He couldn't fully stand up or sit down, and it was incredibly uncomfortable.
Alex was the one who kept drugging Hayley to get her back to America. Tay was still conscious, and knew what Alex had done to her, so she locked them up. No one was going to go against Tay, even though they had all respected Alex just a few days ago.
"Hayley?" Alex asked softly. He could see her moving around, but she wasn't talking. He tried to reach his foot over to her. He just couldn't get his leg to bend that way.
"Alex?" She asked. Her voice was still spacey. "Alex? Where are you?"
"Right next to you," he said. She looked over, and saw him crouched near the floor.
"What are you doing?"
"Chillin', what about you?"
"Uh," she said, and looked down. She noticed her feet hanging above the floor. She tilted her head a little bit. "Where am I?"
"America," Alex said gently. He wasn't sure how she would react. Or if she even remembered where she was before.
"Where's Tom?"
"Tom who?"
"Tom Gaskarth," she said as she leaned her head against her arm. She was starting to feel tired again.
"Tom... Gaskarth? I have a brother?" Alex asked. He was trying to put everything together, and Hayley started to have a flashback.
"Does Alex know he has a brother?" Hayley asked. Her and Tom were having microwave dinners in his apartment. She was still new to Europe, and sometimes found Tom hard to understand.
"No. The only people that knew about me were my grandparents, my parents, and some distant relatives that raised me here in Essex," Tom told her. There was silence for a while. Hayley was trying to find the rights words to say.
"Why haven't you guys met? Surely you could fly over to America and-"
"No. We can never meet," Tom said, cutting her off. He put some tension in the air that made Hayley uncomfortable. She had only met Tom a few days ago. They had to spend all their time together. They never left the apartment.
"Why not?"
"He would try to kill me," Tom said like it would was obvious. Hayley couldn't comprehend that thought. She thought Alex would never hurt someone intentionally, especially his own family.
"Alex would never hurt anyone," she said. Tom laughed, and picked up his empty microwave dinner plate.
"It's a power struggle. I'm the oldest male in the family."
"Wait, I thought you guys couldn't die."
"I can. I'm the first born, and while everyone else can't die, I can. That's why I'm way over here in Essex while everyone else runs around and does whatever the fuck they want!" Tom said, his voice rising until he was yelling.
"Hayley! Wake up!" Alex was yelling. Hayley's eyes opened as she brought her head upright again. "I need you to tell me everything you know about Tom."
"I-uh," Hayley stuttered as she tried to think of what to tell him. She really couldn't tell him anything. The door opened before she could mumble out anything else.
"Oli!" Alex yelled. Oli walked in, and shut the door behind him. He freed Alex from his chains, and then Alex freed Hayley. Alex hugged Oli, and then they all started out. Oli led them through the many hallways until they could find a way out.
"And don't fucking come back again," Oli said as he pushed open the door. Alex stayed to argue as Hayley pushed her way past the two of them.
"I have to get control again. I can't let Tay run this place," Alex argued. He returned his attention to Hayley, and saw her running away. He started after her, and caught her.
"Let me go back! You don't need me here!" She protested as he threw his arms around her. She had once been so powerful, but now she was completely powerless in Alex's arms.
"I need you to tell me about Tom," Alex said. Oli had gone back inside. No one could know that he let the prisoners out. Alex moved his grip to just holding her hand, and dragged her towards the street.
He got a taxi, and the two of them got in. Alex was not going to let her leave America again. He just had to do whatever it took to find out more about Tom.
He brought her to a hotel. He got a room that he paid way too much for, and he dragged Hayley to it. She sat at the desk chair instead of the bed.
"Can I at least call him and let him know that I'm alright?" Hayley asked. Alex started digging into his pocket, but then stopped.
"Promise you won't tell him where you are. I don't need a war," he said. He kept his hand in his pocket, waiting for her response.
"I don't know where I am."
Alex took an old flip phone out of his pocket, and held it towards her. "This can't be traced."
She took it, and then stood up. She started to the bathroom, but Alex stopped her. "Where are you going?"
"What, I can't have a little privacy while I talk to my boyfriend?" She asked. It hurt Alex to know that she'd moved on. He wanted to be the one to go on date nights with her and put a ring on her finger.
Instead of arguing, she just sat down, and opened the phone up. She cursed at him under her breath in French. She put in Tom's number, and waited for it to ring. He didn't answer the first time, so she tried again.
"William?" She asked, using the code name from years ago. She hoped he would catch on.
"Hayley? What's going on? Where are you?" Tom asked the questions so quick, she didn't have time to understand what he was asking.
"Je vais bien, mais je dois vous écouter," ((I'm fine, but I need you to listen.)) She said. Alex groaned and rolled his eyes. He should have known that she would pull something like that. He mumbled to speak in English, but she didn't listen. "Je suis en Amérique avec Alex." ((I'm in America with Alex.))
"America? What the fuck are you doing there?" Tom yelled. He had his hand on his forehead, trying to figure out how everything got so messed up. "I miss you," he said softly.
"I miss you too," she said. Alex didn't want to hear their lovey conversation, so he got up and went into the bathroom. Tom was talking, but Hayley saw an opportunity. She got up and slowly started towards the door. If she could get out of the hotel, she could get back to Tom.
She walked so slow as she passed the bathroom. Any sound would give her away. She put her hand on the doorknob of the main door, and paused. She could hear running water in the bathroom, and knew she had to hurry. She pulled down on the handle, and slowly opened the door.
