Scarlett, Louri and Devon are sitting in the doctor's office for Scarlett’s five month check up. “Can you stop pacing?” Scarlett says to Louri. “I’m excited. We get to find out the genders of the twins.” Louri says. “Mrs. Evans.” A nurse calls out. “Come on you two let’s go.” Scarlett says holding Devon’s hand. “Oh my goodness Devon you’ve gotten so big.” Dr. Montgomery says when she sees Devon in Louri’s lap. Devon curls into louri not knowing the woman. “It’s ok little Marine this is Mommy’s doctor she helped deliver you when you were born.” Louri says. “Hello.” He says shyly. “Are you guys ready to find out the genders?” She asks. “Yes. She was pacing in the waiting room. She's so excited.” Scarlett says. “That sounds like the Louri I know.” Dr. Montgomery laughs. “Ok let’s do this.” Dr. Montgomery says. “Well?” Louri asks. “Two beautiful baby girls.” She says showing the sonogram. “Girls? It’s girls?” Scarlett asks, starting to cry. “Yes and they look perfectly healthy as well as you Scarlett.” Dr. Mongomery says. “You hear that Buddy you are going to have two little sisters.” Scarlett says. “I’ll print these out for you and let you guys go. I’ll see you in two months.” Dr. Montgomery states. “Thanks Doc.” Louri says as she takes one of the copies. “I’m posting this.” Scarlett says.

“We should tell Mildred in private that her name is one we wanted as a middle name if we had a girl.” Scarlett says. “You are right.” Louri agrees. They all get home and there are a bunch of cars in the driveway. “What are you guys doing here?” Louri asks with Devon on her shoulders. “Dear what’s the date?” Lisa Louri’s Mom asks. “November 19th. Oh my god I forgot.” Louri says. “Happy Birthday Babe.” Scarlett says just as Mildred and Sherman come round the corner. “Happy Birthday here, open this.” Mildred says handing Louri a folder and Scarlett takes Devon off of Louri’s shoulders knowing what’s in the envelope. “Ma why are you crying?” Louri asks her mom. “Because I know what’s in there and you might want to sit down.” Lisa says. Louri opens the envelope and bursts into tears. “What is it?” Liz asks. “I’ll read it out loud for you guys.” Louri says.
(Dear, Louri. You know how much Mildred adore you. We have always thought of you as our daughter. You are 33 years old today. And we would like it if you called us Mom and Dad. We can’t make it legal but we asked your mother Lisa’s permission to also be called your parents. Louri you are a daughter to us and we would like it if you would let me walk you down the aisle.

Louri reads out loud. “Thank you.” Louri says standing and hugging them both. “Here Sweetie.” Sherman says, handing her a small hand carved box. Louri opens it and her tears come back. “Will you put it on me?” She asks him. “Of course.” He tells her. “Did you make this?” She asks as he puts the necklace on her. “I made the pendent, yes.” He tells her. “I love it Papa.” She tells him, making him tear up. “What does it say?” Scarlett asks. “It says ‘To my daughter. You are stronger and loved more than you know. Love Papa’.” Louri says proudly. “I am so grateful for you Sherman, Mildred for being in my sorry our daughters life and taking her in as your own. I always knew she was safe out here because she has you two.” Lisa says sincerely.
Scarlett’s POV
I knew about the letter but I didn’t know about the pendant. When she called him ‘Papa’ I had never seen her smile that much except when she proposed and when Devon was born. “This means so much to me thank you.” She says again to Sherman and Mildred.
