Louri’s POV
“Good to hear from you Major. How is it going over there?” I ask Nate. “It’s going well Colonel hot and muggy but good.” He chuckles. “Well I’m glad to hear that. I’ve got Leutenant Wilds with me.” I say. “Leutenant.” Nate says. “Hey Colonel!” I hear O’Reily call out. “Hey Walter.” I reply. “Hows the family settling in the base?” He asks. “They are just fine. Scarlett has to go back to L.A to film on Sunday.” I say before gunfire is heard and the line goes dead. “Fuck.” Greg says. “Come on we need to get back in contact.” I tell him and we run out of my office to the drone control room. “We need eyes at this location now!” I order the man at the controls. “It will be about two hours till I’ve got eyes Colonel.” He tells me. “You have ten minutes.” I tell him. “Ma’am it doesn’t work like that.” He says. “FUCK!” I yell. “Let’s go back to my office and we can patch into the drone feed from there.” I tell Greg and he nods and we hurry back to my office. “What if?” Greg starts. “Don’t go there. They will be ok this is the 4077th we are talking about.” I tell him when Scarlett and Grace walk in with some sort of food I didn’t realize it was lunch time. “What happened?” Scarlett asks seeing the expression on my face. “We lost contact after gunfire was heard.” Greg says. “We brought you lunch but we will leave you be.” Grace says placing the food on the desk Scarlett nods. “They’ll be ok.” Scarlett says before closing the door. “This isn’t good Greg last time this happened. I ended up a POW for four days.” I say. “Hey that won’t happen to you or them ok.” He says reassuringly. “I hope you are right.” I tell him. I am typing in the SAT computer trying to connect to a drone to fly over where their coordinates are when all of a sudden I hear the radio crackling. “Major, do you copy?” I say holding onto the radio. “Major Michaelson, do you copy!?” I shout. “Colonel, we copy,” Nate finally responds. “Oh Thank God what happened!? Any casualties?” I ask. “Not in our unit Ma’am. We came across crossfire in the town we were patrolling but it was a small taliban group we were able to take cover quickly and eliminate the threat” he says. “Ok please gather any intel you can and retrieve the group back to base” I state. “Copy that Colonel, I will video conference you once we retreat back to base quarters” he replies. “Make sure you keep your eyes out in case there are any stragglers.” I say. “Copy” he says. I put the radio down on the desk and run my hand down my face. “That was a close one.” I say turning to Greg. “Yes it was but you trained them very well and they were able to maneuver quickly and eliminate the threat without any casualties” he says, making me nod. “We will have to notify General Banes about this” I say standing up and Greg gets up following me out of the office.
We walk down the hall to the General's office and I knock on the door. “Come in” the General says as I walk in with Greg and stand salute. “At ease,” General says. “To what do I owe this visit?” He asks. “Sir the 4077th platoon came under fire but there have been no casualties on their end. Major Michaelson stated it was a small Taliban group and they were able to eliminate the threat immediately.” I tell him. “Did you notify Major to collect any intel they can and retreat to base?” He asks. “I did sir, Major will video conference us as soon as they retreat to base” I say making him nod. “Very well, please take full report and report back to me once you do” he says. “Will do, sir.” I say. “Dismissed” he says and Greg and I leave his office to head back over to mine.

Scarlett’s POV
I am pacing in our home while Grace is sitting on the couch in the living room. “I am sure everyone is ok,” Grace says. “I really hope so. That platoon is like family to Louri and I know that she will be devastated if anything happens to them” I say to her. “They were trained by the best, we just have to be supportive with whatever the outcome may be” she states as she gets up and gives me a hug to which I reciprocate. After a few minutes my phone buzzes and it’s a text from Louri. “She said she was able to get in touch with the Platoon and everyone is ok” I tell Grace. “Oh thank goodness” she says wiping tears from her eyes. I message Louri back saying we are both relieved to hear everyone is safe and that if they need anything to let us know. She sends me back a response thanking me and to let us know it may be a late night tonight as they are waiting on intel and a video conference call with Major Michaelson. I reply to let her know it’s ok and that I will drop them off some dinner in a little while so that they have something to eat.
What a whirlwind of a day I think to myself.
