Louri’s POV
Nightmare
(CORPORAL GET DOWN NOW!! I scream to Corporal Henderson as we start getting shot at. “CAPTAIN!!!!” I hear Sargent Devon scream out in pain behind me. I run over to him and pull him to cover before taking a look at his leg since I am also a trained medic. “Shit.” I mumble under my breath as I look at his leg. I get a tourniquet on his leg to help stop the bleeding but there is no way they with be able to save his leg from the knee down part of it is already gone. “I don’t feel so good Captain.” He says as he loses all color in his face as he continues to lose blood. “WHERE IS THAT FUCKING MED EVAC I CALLED IN!!!!!” I scream. “Their 5 minutes out Cap.” Henderson informs me. They won’t be here in time I think to myself. “Captain make sure you bring my body back please.” Sargent Devon begs as he starts to close his eyes. “DON’T YOU FUCKING CLOSE YOUR EYES DEVON!!” I scream. “It’s ok Cap you did what you could.” He says trying to comfort me when it’s supposed to be the other way around. Then his face changes to my Devon. “NO DEVON PLEASE!!” I start to cry. “DEVON!!? DEVON ANSWER ME!!” I yell checking for a pulse finding none. “DAMN IT!!” I yell as I hold my son and sob “LITTLE MARINE COME BACK TO ME PLEASE!! DON’T DIE SON PLEASE!! DON’T LEAVE MAMA PLEASE!! I CAN’T LOSE MY LITTLE BOY PLEASE!!” I scream as I rock back and forth holding him tightly. “MAMA I’M RIGHT HERE!! MAMA!!” I hear Devon scream with pure pain in his voice.)

Scarlett’s POV
“CORPORAL GET DOWN NOW!!” I wake up to Louri screaming. “LOURI WAKE UP!” I yell shaking her shoulders fuck I hope Devon doesn’t wake up he is right across the hall and these walls are not soundproof. “Shit.” She mutters. “HONEY PLEASE!” I beg. She continues to toss and turn and manages to push me off her not off the bed but off her. “Mommy what’s happening to Mama?” Devon asks, coming into the room. “Devon, please go back to your room. We will talk with you in a little bit. She's having a bad dream now sweetie please. I am..” I get cut off by Louri screaming again. “WHERE IS THAT FUCKING MED EVAC I CALLED IN!!!!!!” She screams shit she is reliving Sargent Devon’s death. “Honey, wake up please.” I plead, shaking her shoulders. “Can I help?” Devon asks. “Devon please go to your room please I will be in to talk to you in a little bit. Please let Mommy take care of Mama.” I tell him and just as he is about  to leave Louri screams again. “DON’T YOU FUCKING CLOSE YOUR EYES DEVON!!!” She screams there is no way I will be able to get Devon back in his room now. He runs onto the bed and gets next to Louri. “Mama I’m right here you just have to wake up.” He says grabbing her hand. “Louri honey please wake up. The shower is too small for me to take her in there like I would at home. “NO DEVON PLEASE!!” She screams as tears begin to fall down her face and the thrashing becomes worse. “Mama I’m right here.” Devon says and he is beginning to cry. “Mommy why won’t she wake up?” He asks crying he is just like Louri he can’t stand to see someone hurting. “I’ll let her explain. LOURI WAKE UP!” I say. I yell the last part in her face.  “DEVON!!? DEVON ANSWER ME!!” She screams. “Mama I’m right here Mama. I’m scared, please wake up Mama.” He says now I’m crying. Two of the people I care about most are in pain. One of them is only six. “LOURI DOLLESE EVANS-JOHANSSON WAKE UP!!” I yell and Devon is crying holding Louri’s hand as she thrashes around. “DAMN IT!!” She yells but she sounds like she is in more pain than when she normally has this nightmare. “LITTLE MARINE COME BACK TO ME PLEASE!! DON’T DIE SON PLEASE!! DON’T LEAVE MAMA PLEASE!! I CAN’T LOSE MY LITTLE BOY PLEASE!!” She screams pleadingly that’s new before I can say anything Devon screams. “MAMA I’M RIGHT HERE!!” MAMA!!” He cries and Louri’s eyes shoot open and she jolts up. “Mama.” Devon cries burying himself in her chest and her arms are wrapped around him in the blink of an eye. “It’s ok buddy I’ve got you. I’ve got you.” She soothes, kissing the top of his head before turning her head to look at me. “How much did he hear?” She asks as she rubs his back. “All of it.” I say trying not to break down. “Come here” She says her voice hoarse from screaming and holds her arm out and I wrap my arms around her and Devon. “Did I wake the twins too?” She asks and I look at the monitor and they are sleeping peacefully. “No.” I tell her. “Good.” She sighs, “Mama why were you screaming?” Devon sniffles. “I was having a really bad dream, but you and Mommy saved me.” She says. “I got scared Mama.” He tells her. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you.” She says “Can I sleep with you?” He asks. “Of course you can.” She says as she lays back down now with Devon on her chest. We both are probably not going to sleep any time soon but I wait till Devon is asleep to talk to Louri. “Honey.” I whisper. “Yeah?” She asks, looking at me. “That one was different. You screamed ‘Little Marine, come back to me please. Don’t die son please. Don’t leave Mama please. I can’t lose my little boy please.’ What happened in that dream?” I say tears flowing down my face at just the thought of losing Devon. “Do you remember what I said Sargent Devon told me before he died?” She asks. “Yeah he told you that it was ok.” I say. “Yeah well the nightmare started out like the ones about his death normally do but after he said that. His face changed and it wasn’t Sargent Devon anymore it was..” She says choking up. “You don’t have to say it, I think I know where this is going.” I say wiping away her tears. “I held him Scarlett. I held my little boy as he died.” She says silently crying. “You have tomorrow off right?” I ask. “Yeah I do.” She says. “How about a family day.” I say. “I would really like that. We can just watch a bunch of movies and eat way too much junk food.” She says. “That sounds perfect. Try and get some rest. I know it’ll be hard but at least try.” I tell her and she nods.

We are getting ready  for our movie day. Louri went out to get the snacks. “Holy fuck.” I exclaim when I see Louri walk in with five bags of snacks. “Holy fuck.” Devon copies. “No don’t you know what nevermind.” I say and Louri laughs. “Ok so what movie are we starting with?” She asks. “Brave! Because she is a fighter just like you Mama.” Devon says. “I love that movie.” She tells him as she unloads the bags of snacks I guess she meant it when she said ‘way too much junk food’. We all get settled the twins and I snuggled on the couch while Devon and Louri lay on the pillows they put on the floor. We get to the part of the movie where Merida turns her mother into a bear and Devon speaks up. “Don’t worry I would never turn you guys into a bear that’s silly.” He says, making Louri and I chuckle. “Well thank you. I don’t think I would want to be a bear.” Louri replies. “I wouldn’t either.” I tell him. “I would turn you into a tiger, they are so much cooler.” He says. “Ok little Marine back to the movie and no turning people into animals.” Louri chuckles and we go back to watching the movie. Somehow Louri managed to get Devon to convince me to watch Iron Man 2. Louri really loves me in that movie.
