Chapter #37
After an amazing breakfast Louri, Greg and Devon get into Louri’s truck and head out to Home Depot. Devon wanted to listen to Bob the Builder theme song so Louri had Greg pull it up on her phone, connect it to the Bluetooth and hit play. Devon was so excited wiggling around in his car seat singing to the lyrics as Louri and Greg joined in as well. Once they arrived at the store, Greg grabbed an L cart pushing it as Louri held Devon’s hand walking into the store. “Alright, let’s first start off with getting tarps for the kitchen floors as we will be tearing down the wall.” Louri says as they walk down an aisle looking at the different tarps. They grab a couple different sized tarps, putting it on the L cart and continue walking. “We’re gonna need sledge hammers and wheelbarrows to help bring the pieces of drywall out to the dumpster” Greg mentions as they walk down the aisles grabbing the tools they will need. They arrive at the lumber department and look at what will be needed for the cabinets. Louri spoke with the worker about the wood and had it ordered and set up a day for delivery to the house as they were going to need some time for demolition and setting up room for the wood to be delivered. Satisfied with that completed task they move along to the next section which was granite department. Louri pulled up the design on her phone she had looked up online showing the worker that was working in the department and setting up a delivery date for that as well. They then made their way to the final departments paint and lighting selecting what was needed. With everything on Louri’s list checked off they head to check out. Once everything was paid for they head out to the truck and load everything into the bed and into the trailer Louri had rented to haul everything and head home.

Scarlett POV
While Louri, Greg and Devon went to the store I took this time as an opportunity to spend some quality time with my girls. It’s nice to be able to watch how they move around and react to different things. I brought them over to the living room placing them on their play mats for some tummy time. I know how important it is for babies to have tummy time and they love it each time. Plus it’s cute to see them wiggle their butts around as they try to navigate into either crawling or turning on their backs. Maya is currently on her stomach picking up her head and looking at her sister who is also on her stomach as well wiggling her butt. I laugh a little and take pictures and videos not wanting Louri to feel left out from seeing them like this. Louisa looks like she is attempting to crawl as she is starting to move back and forth on her stomach. “You can do it Louisa, keep rocking back and forth” I encourage her as she continues to move she finally starts moving forward on her hands and knees. I gasp and quickly take a video of her crawling and getting all excited for her. Proud mommy moment. I look over to Maya and she starts wiggling her butt too as her sister did. “Oh my god if you both crawl your mama is gonna be so excited for this” I say encouraging Maya as well. Both girls start crawling together as some happy tears slip from my eyes. I hear the truck pull in the driveway and quickly go to the front door, opening it and shouting out to Louri to get inside quickly. Louri frantically gets out of the truck yelling to Greg to grab Devon as she runs inside. “What happened babe!? Are you hurt? Are the twins ok? She asks checking my body for any injuries. “I’m fine, look” I say to her pointing to the girls on the ground crawling over towards us. “Oh my god they’re crawling!?” She asks excitedly as Greg comes in quickly with Devon. “What’s wrong, what happened?” He asks as well. “The girls are crawling!” Louri exclaims as she gets on the ground encouraging the girls to her. I tear up even more seeing how excited she is, she had missed out on when Devon first started crawling as she was still stationed in the military at the time. Maya reaches Louri first and she picks her up in her arms and gives her kisses on her face as she giggles. Music to my ears. Devon gets excited as well as Louisa is making her way over to us as well. He is such a great big brother to them. Louisa reaches us and I pick her up and give her kisses as well. Louri brings Devon in and we have a family hug. Greg snapping some pictures for us. “This has got to be one of my favorite moments,” Louri says, smiling at me. “Mine too” I say to her, giving her a quick kiss. “Yucky” Devon says as we both laugh.

Louri POV
I can’t believe it! Our girls are crawling. I’m so happy I was able to witness this moment as I wasn’t able to see Devon when he first began crawling. Thinking about it makes me a little sad but Scarlett did take as many videos and photos for me while I was away. I was here when he took his first steps and the immense amount of joy I felt that day was so great. I can’t wait to experience that moment with the girls as well. I help the girls back to their play mats and go outside with Greg to start unloading the truck. I moved it so the trailer and bed of the truck were facing the garage and we can store some of the stuff inside the garage that we won’t be using right away. Scarlett is watching Devon as we bringing everything in. Once everything is unloaded we walk inside and start laying the tarps in the kitchen by the wall and on the way out to the garage as it will be the quickest way to the dumpster. I place baby gates up so that the girls can’t crawl over and Devon doesn’t get hurt by accidentally stepping on
something while we knock down the wall. I mark some spots on the wall for points of impact to start off with. “Hey babe, Greg and I are going to start on the wall. I just wanted to let you know” I tell Scarlett as I grab safety glasses and the sledgehammers. “Ok please be careful” she responds. I nod and hand Greg one of the safety glasses and sledge hammer and we get to work.

Taking the first swing, Louri makes a big hole in the wall as she feels a great sense of relief. She still has some nightmares from when she was taken hostage but she doesn’t want to worry Scarlett with her troubles. Each swing she takes at the wall the weight is slowly starting to lift off her shoulders. Greg gets a couple swings in as well as pieces of drywall fall to the ground on the tarps. They both take a break, catching their breaths and looking at each other. They both nod at one another as a way of silently saying everything will be alright. They decide to load up the wheelbarrow to bring the drywall pieces outside to the dumpster. This project is definitely something that they both needed to help them relieve any problems, worries or stresses they have pent up over time. It didn’t take them long to get the wall down and all the debris outside and into the dumpster. A very successful first day of the remodel.
