Scarlett’s POV

Once I get to my bedroom I see a box with a note on it that I don’t remember being there when we left and there is no dust on it so it’s not been here long. I pick up the folded piece of paper and I smile seeing Devon and Louri’s handwriting.

(Dear Mommy,
Mama is helping me write this so I get the words right. I hope you had a good plane ride back home. We miss you already. Mama and I packed you this fun box so we can still spend time together over the phone. I love you lots. Devon.
Hey, Baby I packed you one battleship board I have the other here I also packed you one guess who boards MARVEL addition of course and a chess set. The candy was Devon’s idea so we picked out your favorites and added them to your box. Be careful and don’t overwork yourself. I love you. Your Marine.)

After I read the note I decide to video call them and Devon answers the phone. “MOMMY!!!” He screams. “Devon Mommy is in L.A.” I hear Louri’s voice in the background. “She’s on your phone Mama!” He yells back. “Yeah it’s called a screen saver little Marine.” Louri’s voice says getting closer. It looks like Devon is in his room and is that a cardboard cut out of me from the Black Widow premiere? “He means I’m on a video call Lor.” I laugh and I hear her run to Devon and see her sit next to him. “Hey Baby.” She says and Devon gives her a weird look. “Mama, her name is Mommy. Not, baby.” He says, making us laugh a little. “Yes, her name is Mommy to you. But I call her Baby or Scarlett because she is my wife.” Louri says doing her best to explain though I wouldn’t mind Louri calling me Mommy when we’re alone. “And you are her Marine.” He says with his finger on his chin. “That I am.” She smiles. “I got the box. I haven’t opened it yet, but I have read the note. Your writing is getting so much better, keep at it.” I say. “You heard her Mama keep working on your writing.” Devon says dead serious. “She was talking to you.” Louri laughs. “As I was saying I got the box I thought we could open it together.” I say. “Yeah open it, I helped Mama pack it.” He says. “He helped with some of it. Don’t open everything on camera.” Louri says, slightly nervous. What else did she put in here? “Ok I’m opening it. Oh these are my favorite thank you. Oh and battleship and guess who. Maybe we can play tomorrow.” I say, noticing a second box with another note attached. “YAY!” Devon beams. “Hey little Marine I know you like talking to Mommy but it’s time for bed ok.” Louri says and he nods, handing her the phone. “I have to get my pj’s on bye Mommy.” He says before leaving the screen. “So what’s in the other box?” I ask. “Just some things you might want. Read the note.” She says walking out of Devon’s room.

(Hey Babygirl. I can’t be there in person so I got you a few things to use to help with “stress”. But there is one rule. You can only use them when I say you can. Love your Marine.)

I read not out loud just in case Devon comes back and my cheeks are a crimson red when I finish reading the note and open the box. “When did we buy these?” I ask. “Oh I bought them a week before we left for Germany. I do plan ahead sometimes.”  She smirks. “How much did it all cost?” I ask since there are multiple things in here. “Um a little under a thousand.” She says. “Wow. Even from halfway across the world you are still taking care of me. And camo print cuffs really?” I say with a raised eyebrow. “What? I’m a Marine. What did you expect? Pink fuzzy cuffs no that’s boring and overdone.” She says. “Mama I brushed my teeth.” Devon says running into the room and I make sure the box is out of sight. “Mommy are you still going to play battleship?” Devon asks. “Possibly tomorrow. But right now you have to get to bed, mister.” I tell him. “Ok, I love you Mommy good night.” He says. “Goodnight Bubs. Sleep well.” I tell him before he walks off to bed. “You should get some sleep too, Marine.” I tell Louri as she tries to suppress a yawn. “Yes Ma’am. I love you and I will talk to you when I can.” She says. “Goodnight Babe.” I say blowing her a kiss and she pretends to catch it. “Goodnight Baby.” She says before we hang up. I am exhausted from my flight so I will take a quick nap before my meeting with Noah and Adam.
