Chapter #56
Louri’s POV
We decided to watch Captain America: First Avenger in the living room. Scarlett is cuddled up with me on one couch while Chris is on the recliner. “I still can’t believe you were in the role of a soldier, while in real life your sister is a marine” Scarlett says to Chris. “I mean I used a lot of inspiration from her. She makes me proud every day.” He says looking over at me smiling to which I return. “I bet I’d be a better Captain America” I tell him, giving him a smirk. “Oh I second that.” Scarlett says. “What? That's so unfair.” Chris says making us both laugh. We continue watching the movie when my phone started ringing. I look over to see it’s Greg. I pick up the phone “hey Greg what’s up?” I hear a baby crying and a distressed Greg. “Lor, please. She won’t stop crying and we don’t know what to do” he says desperately. “Hang on Scar and I will be right over.” I tell him hanging up the phone. “What’s wrong, is everything ok?” Scarlett asks. “Yes, just Ella crying and they don’t know what to do. I figured we could go over there and help them out” I say to her, making her nod. “Chris, are you ok with staying here with the kids?” I ask. “Yea definitely, go save them” he says, making us laugh. We both get up and put on our shoes and jackets and head over to Greg and Gracie’s home.Greg’s POV
Since we got home from the base hospital, Ella has been crying. We are so worried, she doesn’t look hurt. I wanted to be able to figure it out but I know that Gracie is tired and she should rest but I can’t seem to get Ella to stop crying. I decided to call Louri for help. I picked up the phone and quickly selected her contact. The phone rang twice and she answered “hey Greg what’s up?” She asks and Ella is crying as I try rocking her in my arm. “Lor, please, she won’t stop crying and we don’t know what to do. Probably sounding like a desperate fool but at this point I don’t care I just want my baby girl to stop crying. She tells me to hang on and her and Scarlett will be right over. Thank goodness for the both of them being so close. We hang up and I walk around with Ella. A few minutes later there’s a knock on the door and Louri and Scarlett walk in. Scarlett takes Ella from me while Louri walks me over to the kitchen. “Deep breaths Greg it’s ok. She’s probably just a little fussy. When was the last time Grace fed her?” She asks. “Um um I think right before we left the hospital, 4 hours ago.” I tell her. “Ok let’s try to get her fed, where’s Grace?” She asks. “She went to go lay down she’s exhausted. “Hmm ok we have a little bit of formula for the twins do you want to try that till Grace wakes up?” She asks. “Yes please I will try anything” I tell her. “Alright just keep taking deep breaths I’ll go run home really quick and grab the formula ok?” She says checking to make sure I’ll be ok. I nod my head as she turns around and let’s Scarlett know she’s going to get formula from the house. I join Scarlett in the living room seeing her sway Ella back and forth in her arms and lightly making shushing sounds in her ear calming her down. “Wow, you are a life saver.” I say to Scarlett. “It’s no biggie, it will take some getting used to but what I found with Devon and the twins is to swaddle them up and sway them back and forth and just lightly shush in their ear. It’s soothing to them” she says making me nod and taking a mental note. One of many I’m sure I’m going to have to remember.
Louri POV
I quickly run to the house and burst through the door, scaring Chris. “Sorry I’m just getting some formula since Grace is laying down and Ella is getting fussy.” I tell him while walking into the kitchen to grab a bottle and some formula. “You are a great mom and even great friend to Greg” he tells me coming around the corner. “Thanks Chrissy” I say to him as I quickly leave. “Hey don’t call me that!” He shouts as I run out flipping him off and laughing. I rush back to their house and quietly walk in not knowing if Scarlett was able to calm Ella down. Which to the looks of it seems like she did. She always knows what to do. I wash my hands and make a bottle for Ella and check the temperature on the back of my hand and walk over to them. “Hold out the top of your hand” I say to Greg. “Why?” He asks, putting his hand out as I dab the formula on his hand. “So you know to check the temperature of the formula.” I say to him, making him nod his head. “Do you want to feed her?” I ask him. “Yes please” he says and goes to sit down on the recliner in the living room, Scarlett brings Ella over to him and gently places her in his arms. “Make sure you support her head” she says as he adjusts. I hand him the bottle as he gently places it in her mouth as she instantly starts sucking from the bottle. “Oh my god she’s doing it” he says quietly looking up at the both of us and then back down to her. “You’re doing a great job” I tell him, placing the burp cloth on his shoulder and wrapping my arm around Scarlett. Once it seems like she’s had enough he takes the bottle out of her mouth and I place it on the coffee table. “Now you’re going to want to gently place her against your shoulder and burp her,” Scarlett says. “Can you help me?” He asks making Scarlett nod and moving Ella to the side where I placed the burp cloth. “Now gently pat her back or you can rub circles along her back to help move the gas bubble in her body to help her burp.”’she tells him. He starts slowly patting her back and after a few moments she burps. “Oh she did it!” He says smiling. “See you’re a natural” I tell him. “Sometimes she might spit up which is ok. That's why I put the burp cloth on your shoulder” I say. “Thank you both so much, I was really starting to get worried” he says looking at the both of us. “It’s no worry Greg, you know we are both here to help. It will take some getting used and adjusting to but it’ll come as a natural instinct for you. You will also find things that may or may not work for her” I tell him, making him nod thankfully. “Now looks like a good time to lay her in the bassinet and get some rest yourself”‘I tell him. “Yeah I think that is a good idea," he says, standing up while holding Ella. “Just make sure you don’t cover her with a blanket or have a pillow in the bassinet,” Scarlett tells him as he takes mental note thanking her again. “Go ahead I’ll make sure we lock up” I tell him as I pat his back and we make our way out locking the door behind us. “We did good babe” I say to Scarlett as I put my arm around her. “Yes we did” she says smiling as we head back home.A/N: Hey everybody Chris here.
