Chapter #18
Melanie’s POV
I can’t believe Scarlett is six months pregnant with two girls. They are here for Hanukkah and Christmas. I love having them over. “Hey Mom.” Scarlett says and she doesn’t sound good. “What’s wrong? Is it the babies?” I ask panicked. “No it’s Louri.” She says. “What about her?” I ask worried. “She has to go back.” Scarlett says. “Back to L.A or back overseas?” I ask. “Overseas. She is packing right now. I’ve got to tell Devon. Is he still playing with Hunt outside?” Scarlett says. “Yes he is.” I tell her and she goes to put on her coat and boots to go get devon.

Louri’s POV
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” I yell as I pack my bag before hearing a knock on the door. “Can I come in?” Melanie asks. “Yeah.” I sigh. “How long will you be gone?” She asks. “I don’t know. They couldn’t give me all the details over the phone. I will find out more when I get to Camp Lincoln.” I tell her. “Camp Lincoln? But you always go to Camp Mason.” She says worry in her voice. “I know but something has happened and I have to go. I hate leaving during the holidays.” I say. “Stay here Dear.” She says before leaving. She comes back with a nice oak box in her hands. “Here dear it’s a menorah and candles for you to light each night if you want.” Melanie says. “Thank you Melanie, that means a lot.” I tell her, taking it and putting it in my bag. “When do you leave?” She asks. “Tonight. I will be staying at the camp probably 95% of the time I’m there so I should be ok. And the nice thing about being a Lt. Colonel I can video call more than I could before.” I tell her. “That’s good.” She says then we hear Devon yelling and running into the room. “YOU CAN’T WEAVE MAMA!! IT’S CHWISMISS!! AND HANUKKAH!!” He yells, how is he able to pronounce a Hebrew word better than an english word? “I’m sorry little Marine. I will call you as much as I can, I promise.” I tell him as I kneel down in front of him. I take off Devon Hendricks tags from my neck, something I normally never do. “You know how these are very special to Mama?” I ask and he nods. “They belonged to the man you were named after. His mom gave them to me when you were born. Keep them safe for me till I get home ok.” I tell him as I put them around his neck. We all hear the horn of the truck well humvee that was sent to get me go off letting us know it’s time for me to go. “I love you so much. My little Marine.” I tell him giving him a hug and a kiss and he goes into Melanie’s arms and starts to sob breaking my heart. “I love you too Baby more than you know. If I’m not back beffore these two are born show them this picture of me so they know who I am.” I say between kisses handing her a small wallet sized picture. I kneel back down so I am face to face with the baby bump. “I love you guys too. I can’t wait to meet you.” I say kissing Scarlett’s stomach. “See you soon.” I say picking up my bag before leaving.3 months later.
I am still here halfway across the world from my family and wife who is due anyday now. “Ok Marines eyes sharp lets go.” I order before we storm a building, finding it completely empty. We search the whole building and perimeter for good measure but no sign of our target. We get back to the base and Papa comes running to me. “Get your ass on that plane! Scarlett’s in labor and I managed to get you a seven day pass go!” He says. I hug him and tell him I will call him. I don’t even bother getting my bag I just take off my body armor and get on the plane. We land in New York where Scarlett and Devon have been staying. I see Hunter waving me down even though I only got about three hours of sleep on the plane my body is so full of adrenaline I run to him and we say a quick hi before running to his car ignoring the paps. Once we are in the car I break the silence. “Have the twins been born yet? Did I miss it?” I ask frantically. “No, she's been in labor for about twenty hours and very angry and sad. She doesn’t know you are coming.” He tells me. “What name is she under?” I ask as we pull into the parking lot of the hospital. “Johansson-Evans.” He says and I jump out of the car before he even stops and run inside. “I’m looking for my wife. Johansson-Evans.” I say to the man at the front desk. “Maternity ward on the fourth floor room 407.” He says. “Thank you.” I say and go to the stairwell and run up to the fourth floor and I find her room and run in. “Louri! You’re here!” Scarlett yells shocked. “I’m here, I have a seven day pass.” I say. “How?” She asks. “Papa.” I say. “So room 407 huh you are just missing one seven.” I laugh. “I didn’t notice that. Arg!!” She yells as a contraction hits. “Hey it’s ok I’m here. You can do this, Baby.” I tell her. “Ok Mrs. Johansson looks like these two are ready to come into the world. It’s time to start pushing.” The doctor says. After an hour and thirty five minutes of pushing the first of the twins Louisa is born and taken away to get cleaned up. After another hour the second twin Maya is born. “They are beautiful.” I coo as I hold one in each arm. “Maya has my blue eyes and Louisa has your green eyes.” I tell her.A/N
