Maddison Scott

It's been a few days since we got back from Jamaica, and Hunter hasn't said a word to any of us. I'm worried.

He's been lying in bed all day. He won't eat. We've all tried to get him out of bed. So far, nothing has worked.

We're all sitting in the living room, trying to come up with ways to get him out of bed.

"He's been missing too much practice," Carter says, worried.

"I know, but nothing's working," Grace says, leaning her head on Carter's shoulder.

"Why don't we call up his mom?" I ask.

"Good idea; I'll call her right now," Lia says, picking up her phone and dialling Hunter's mom.

After she gets off the phone, she tells us she will get here as soon as possible.

Around 30 minutes later, she arrives and goes straight up to Hunter's room.

God, I feel so bad," I say.

"Same" Grace agrees

We all decided to put on a movie to try to distract ourselves. About halfway into the movie, I hear Hunter's mom come down the stairs and head into the kitchen.

I stand up and follow her.

Hey, Mrs. Davis," I say.

"Hey sweetie," She says softly.

"How is he?"

"He's ok. I think he just needs someone to talk to."

"Do you think I should give it a try?"

"I think you should; he has a sweet spot for you," She says, smiling.

I smile and walk up the stairs to Hunter's room.

Hey," I say quietly, sitting on the edge of the bed. I don't get a response, but I know he's listening.

"You can talk to me about anything. I know it seems like I hate you, but trust me, I really don't. You're one of the best guys I've met this year, and I don't know what I would have done without you. I mean, you hated me, but you still helped me with my concussion."

"Just know I'm here for you," I say as I stand up and head for the door.

I walk back downstairs and sit down on the couch.

"Any luck?" Sam asks

Nope," I say as I lay down and close

my eyes.

Hunter Davis

These past few days have been hell. I just can't deal with life right now. I know my friends have been trying to help, but I just can't tell them yet.

I just can't have anything go well in my life. Every time I think it's going well, It happens again, and I'm back in the same stage I was in 11 years ago.

I can tell Madison is worried, but I just can't tell her or anyone else.

Hey, hun," I hear my mom say.

"Did it happen again?"

"I nod, keeping my eyes closed.

Oh, my sweet baby boy, you don't deserve this," she says, crying.

She hugs me, and we stay like this for a while before she goes back downstairs.

A few minutes later, I hear someone else come in.

"Hey"

By her voice, I know it's Madison.

"You can talk to me about anything. I know it seems like I hate you, but trust me, I really don't. You're one of the best guys I've met this year, and I don't know what I would have done without you. I mean, you hated me, but you still helped me with my concussion."

"Just know I'm here for you," she says as she stands up and heads out the door.

Madison has such an effect on me that I'm dying to tell her, but I can't.

not yet.
