The next morning, my eyes were puffy from all the nightmares I had. Chan held me in his arms until he felt I was ready for him to let go, but I clinged to him. None of this was easy for me and it definitely wasn't for him either.
"You're okay." He whispered in a sleepy voice as he laid on my chest, falling back asleep. "You're safe."
I tried to shake the thought of him disappearing, especially with my dad still around. He did what he wanted and never thought about how it'd make me feel.
"Chan." I whispered.
"Hmm?" His eyes were still closed.
"Did you know?" He shot up, giving me a worried look.
"Know what, princess?"
"About my dad." He sat in front of me, looking disappointed.
"I did. I'm sorry." His head was down. "It's the rules. I'm not allowed to say anything."
"I'm not mad, I just wanted to know." I patted his head before pulling him into my arms.Later that day, Chan made me lunch. He wouldn't let me help, not even to set the table. "You stay put. I'll take care of you." He said as he kissed my forehead.
I sat on the couch, kicking my feet as I watched my favorite shows. It had been a while since I was able to sit down, without worry. "Come eat." He motioned me over to the table.
"You should've let me help."
"You didn't have to." He smiled. Felix came out of his room.
"You're up late." I mentioned.
"I had to stay late for work." He stretched. "Did you cook lunch?"
"I did. Help yourself." Chan motioned to the kitchen.
Felix through his hand around Chans shoulder. "You need to bring him around more often."
"You like it because you don't have to cook." I laughed.
"He cooks so good though!" He said with a mouthful of food.
"I'll cook for you anytime. You just call me." Chan gave Felix his number. After lunch, Felix suggested celebrating. "Why don't all three of us go out for drinks!"
"I'm not 21 yet." I laughed.
"I'll buy the drinks and we can do something special here." Chan mentioned. We all nodded in agreement.
"Why are we going out anyways?" I asked.
"To celebrate you not being sick."
"Ugh, we celebrate all the time." I groaned.
"It'll be just us this time. That way you can have fun and let loose without being so tense." He smiled.
Each time we celebrated was with my parents. My dad's always made me tense up. I just wanted him to be proud of me. I guess after finding out everything, I now know why I was so scared.Chan had brought the drinks back. Personally, I have never had any considering I was sick and wanted to be healthy. I was also a bit underage to do anything, but my birthday was approaching slowly.
"You don't have to if you don't want to." Chan whispered as he held my hand. I gave him a look to let him know that I was okay.
Felix pulled drinks from the bag. "Have whatever you want!" He smiled.
We all sat down and I began drinking. The taste was bitter and burned my throat. I shook. Chan put his hand on my back. "Slow down, you might black out." He giggled.
"I'm okay, I promise." I smiled, taking another shot.Felix was the first one to get drunk. He was staggering and slurring his words. "Nina!" He started crying. "I care for you so much. I'm so thankful you're alive." He hugged me. He reeked of alcohol.
"Calm down." I patted his back.
"Even when you're mean to me, I still love you." In the matter of seconds, his emotions changed. He was giggling and went up to Chan. "You're the best brother-in-law." He hugged him.
"Come on, let's sit down." I tried pulling him off.
"I like you so much, brother."
"Felix, please sit down." I finally got him to sit.A little bit later, I wasn't feeling the greatest. I could barely see anything as I looked at Chan. "Channie!" I smiled.
"What is it, love?" He smiled back.
"I want to go for a walk!" I giggled.
"You can't walk, you'll fall." He laughed.
"Hold me while I walk!" I was completely out of it.
"Can I go?" Felix shot up.
"I can't hold both of you." He patted his back.
"Nina, let him take me first!" Felix whined.
"No! He's my boyfriend, not yours!" I pouted.
"But you're with him all the time! It's my turn!" We fought like children.
"How about we just sit here. No walks for either of you." He giggled.
"That's not fair!" I crossed my arms. He rubbed my back.
"Stand up for me." As I got up, I almost tumbled backwards when Chan caught me. "We can't walk because you can't stand up." We locked eyes. I was so focused on him. I never said a word. He stood me up. "Let's go lay down." He walked me to the stairs. "Sit right here. I'm going to put Felix in bed." I nodded my head."Felix, let's go lay down." He helped him up.
"Are we going for a walk?" He smiled.
"No, we're going to go to bed." He walked him to his room. I could hear Felix faintly bickering with Chan about his walk.
"I want to see the sky!" He whined.
"Let's look out the window." Chan suggested.
Their voices trailed off as I slowly went in and out of consciousness on the stairs. "Okay, princess. Let's get you to bed now."
"Channie!" I smiled as I lifted my arms up. He picked me up, carrying me to the room. I laid on his shoulder. My body was numb and I was unaware of my surroundings. I leaned back to look at him. My cheeks were flushed and my pupils were dilated. "In this moment, I know exactly what you mean to me." I leaned in and kissed him. He held me tighter, I pulled away. "I would've died if it wasn't for you. I love you." He laid me down and covered me up, kissing my forehead.
"I love you, endlessly." He pulled me into his chest as I fell asleep almost immediately.
