Ella snickered to herself as she caught Joe off guard. Her eyes didn't leave him as he walked past her, leading her to the front of the store to the counter where he kept her long awaited book. Though his next words surprised her. THAT was flirty right? He basically just asked her out on a date right? Someone doesn't just invite a stranger outside of a work environment if it wasn't a date. Right? If only Evan was here to help her decipher.
"A flashy new bookstore huh? Are you just trying to snoop out the new competition and you found out that I took karate for 3 years so you want me there for backup? I will admit though..I never got past a yellow belt...and I was 5.." She teased taking the book she bought in her hand and rubbing her fingers across the cover. There was nothing like the touch of a fresh hard cover book.
Ella's lips parted for a moment, as if she was about to say something more but she quickly closed them, pressing them into a firm line together as she smiled at Joe, tucking her hair behind her ear as she then looked down.
"Um, maybe? This is gonna sound super eerie for someone you just met, but my next door neighbor literally died last night and her funeral is this weekend. Im not family but I feel like it would be like disrespectful to not go..." she trailed off, looking back up to Joe. 'Come on girl, don't back out, what would Evan do'
"But..if it doesn't run too late, I'd be more than happy to go with you!" She said quickly. "Actually, here"
Ella pulled out her phone, unlocking it and going to create a new contact. She turned the phone around to hand it to Joe. "Put your number in my phone, and we can plan when to meet up"
