For a while, Ella swam in a sea of other people's expectations. She never stepped out of line, she got good grades, stayed out of trouble..she was the perfect child. So why didn't anyone notice? Her mother thought she was so imperfect that she wanted nothing to do with her and her father hated looking at her and busied himself with job after job just to avoid her. Her neighbors were nice but they weren't family and Ella knew that even if they tried to treat her like their daughter. It wasn't the same.
When Ella turned 18 she cut her hair for the first time. It was the first time she noticed her dad look at her for longer than 2 seconds. Then she made herself bangs and her father told her good morning. Eventually she dyed her hair brown and her father asked how her day was. The more she didn't look like her mother, the more her dad didn't seem to hate her existence.
She remembered the day she told her dad she wanted to officially change her name. He drove her to the court house hisself which was the first time they spent any time together in years. But it was something they both needed. To break away from her mother, Elizabeth Olsen. Ella was named after her and grew to hate it. So she changed her name from Elizabeth Olsen Jr. To Eleanor Beatrice Olsen, Ella B for short. After that, her years with her father got better. They even ate dinner together. Ella finally got the father she's been wanting..but at what cost?*
Ella's eyes slowly blinked open, adjusting to the bright lights above her, she held her hand up to block the rays. She sat up slowly, groaning as she felt a sharp pain shoot to her head. Her hand went to the side of head, feeling a sticky substance on her fingers as she pulled back to look at her palm. It was covered in blood making her breathe heavier, panic settling as the last events started to replay in her mind. Joe. She looked around, realizing she was now the one in the glass cage.
"no..no no no no" she mumbled over and over again as she got up racing to the door. She tried to open it but to no surprise it was locked.
"JOE!" She screamed banging on the glass walls. "JOE PLEASE!" Her voiced cracked as she turned around, sliding down to her bottom as tears slipped out her eyes. "fuck fuck **fuck**!" She pulled her knees up to her chest as she buried her head into them. This was not how this was supposed to go. This is was like worst case scenario. This was..it. She would die here right? Has anyone Joe put in this box ever lived? Ella lifted her tear stained face, mascara ran under her eyes. She didn't know what to do anymore. Maybe this was for the best. Maybe this was karma.Ella winced feeling another sharp pain in her head, she needed to sleep but was too afraid to what she would wake up. Instead Ella just crawled back to the makeshift bed, laying down making sure she faced the door so she could see when Joe arrived. She laid there for what seemed like hours, just eyes wide staring at nothing infront of her, waiting for the moment he would end it.
