While her eyes scanned the crowd, they landed on a familiar set of dark ones that were walking away. Her lips parted slightly as she felt her heart beat grow faster with every step he took. Oh..oh..was this..? No..? Joe..? She blinked slowly as Joe approached her, her hand going to her necklace she wore, fiddling with it as it was something she tended to do when she got nervous.
Realizing she was too busy gawking to answer, she shook her head snapping out of her thoughts.
"Oh no, no it's fine!" She said putting her drink down and smiling at him. "Sorry, It was just a little pregame before you showed up" she teased before looking towards his gaze. He pointed out the couple that walked out hand in hand. They did look exactly alike which made Ella giggle. She turned to the next couple he pointed out, leaning in closer to him so he could hear her over the music.
"I mean he looks old enough to be her father" she played along before grabbing her drink again and taking a long sip. "Hm, this place is amazing Joe, I didn't know it even existed. I'm even more impressed you know about it" she continued putting her drink down and glancing towards the band. She smiled letting out a low chuckle.
"Okay, this is gonna sound super embarrassing but..before I moved here, I had this like...fantasy dream of meeting my soulmate on a rooftop bar." She admitted glancing to him. "I mean I had it all planned out, I was gonna be in a cute red dress with red lipstick and my hair all curled, and I was gonna be sitting at the bar nonchalantly, just a mysterious new to town girl and then this..hunk of a man was gonna walk in and our eyes would connect and we would fall in love and have like 6 kids" She laughed as she described her old dream to him, shaking her head. "But that was before when I believed in Love at first sight, now that I'm older I feel like...that's just bullshit you know? How do you love someone just by looking at them.."
Her eyes stared at Joe for a moment, her smile faltering slightly as her eyes fell to his lips. Could you love someone by kissing them for the first time? Surely there's a love at first kiss..right? Ella blushed realizing she had been staring and looked away, taking her drink again and sipping it, watching the band start their next song.
