"I mean he literally said he talks to a lot of women. Like what does that even mean?"
"It means he gets a lot of bitches."
"And he sounded really sincere when I told him about my neighbor passing away, I can't remember if I told him how she died though.."
"Oh my god El please Just text him. I can smell your lack of sex drive from here" Evan's voice sounded through Ella's phone who laid upside down from her bed, looking at the empty text box under Joe's name. She wanted to play this hard to get mysterious girl. Is she interested? Is she not interested? She wanted to keep Joe on his toes. But truthfully, it was her who wanted to know more. Who wanted to dig into his brain and pick it apart to find out if her opinion on him was true. Was he this anti social media, the world is better through the seeing eye guy. Or was he a weirdo in Evan's words.
"B" Evan said again making Ella sigh and turn over.
"I'm not texting him okay! Not until this weekend anyway when we go to the book opening. You're coming with me right?" She said tapping back to her FaceTime call to see Evan still there, a pen in between his teeth as he would scribble off camera every so often before coming back to it. Though her question made him side eye.
"I..can't. I have something to do" he said before looking back down to whatever he was writing. Ella waited a moment, thinking he would explain what his plans were. But silence quickly took over them. She watched Evan for a moment, he didn't even notice her hard stare or he purposely ignored it. Either way, she rolled her eyes and looked away.
"Fine. Joe's coworker is going anyway with his girlfriend so at least I won't be completely alone" she said glancing back to Evan who seemed to still be focused on something else. "Maybe we'll have a foursome!"
Evan's face perked up as he snapped his head towards Ella finally with a confused look. "Wait what?" He asked making her shake her head."Oh sure, a foursome will make you pay attention but nothing else. What are you even doing?" She asked with a chuckle .
"I'm working on a new piece. I've..ran into some new inspiration and it's just got my brain flowing with all these ideas that I have to put in words. I swear..this is gonna be my best work yet" Evan said, a bright grin appearing on his face cause a smile to come onto Ella. She always encouraged Evan to write his best and was his number one fan. And inspired people makes her feel inspired also.
"Well I can't wait to hear it when you're done. Talk later?" She asked.
"You know it" Evan replied before hanging up.Ella smiled softly. She reached over to her bedside table where her new book sat. Taking a picture of the cover with her hand slightly on the front, she decided to post it on her Instagram with the caption 'Teen romance IS still in🔥💕 #hopelessromantic'
She hit post only to get a notification seconds later from Evan liking and commenting on her post with a 'just ask J' She rolled her eyes at his sly mention of Joe. It was a shame he didn't have an Instagram. She would be spending her time stalking his pictures to see what kind of activities he liked to do.
'Or just text him and ask, you do have his number' she thought to herself making her mentally groan. What else did she have to do.She opened up her phone again, going to her messages and writing up a text.
'Heyy, this is Ella B. The girl from the bookstore who bought the Timberwolf from you? Are you free right now? I wanted to grab a coffee at Laker's cafe and could use that listening ear I was promised' After a hesitant self cringe, she hit send and mentally gagged at herself. How embarrassing. She didn't wait to hear back before she got up and left her apartment to head to the cafe, whether he agreed to go or not she could at least wait there to see.
