Joe smiled at her as she relayed his same smile. It occurred to him that he'd never actually seen her in the sun, she was radiant. And he was.. hot, shit.
'Why did I wear two shirts,'
"Talkative, maybe I got the wrong table.." he pretended to look around, sitting and leaning towards her, "beefcake with the thin blonde girl looks very talkative," he smirked, the very muscular man did nothing but eat the girls neck in public, "I'm sure he's just whispering to her," he smirked jokingly.

He noticed her frown and swallowed, 'ok, I take it she doesn't like that i run, I don't! I hate it! And I run like phoebe buffay!'

Joe went to speak and then closed his mouth again,
'T-thank you?'
"Well, you know, If my excuse for a nice walk in the park is running, sorry," he let out an airy laugh, "that was my pathetic excuse to impress you," he smiled, "I Ah- sorry," he muttered awkwardly, subconsciously running his hand over the spoon in front of him.
He thought it only fitting to apologise about her neighbour again, even though the old bitch deserved it, it was her fault.
'You should have seen her, all up in your business, what? Jealous she can't afford cable tv, I did it for you'

He nodded,
'That's a funny way of saying murdered'
He kept listening intently, wanting to laugh for a moment,
'Falling that's what there going on, tax payers money fine at work'
"So she fell?" He questioned, thanking the waiter as he gave them both there drinks. He took a small sip, "must have been scary" he sighed,
He watched her, 'is she.. scared of death, don't worry Ella, there's not a line I wouldn't cross for you,'
This peaked joes interest, the cops errr suspecting foul play,
"Shit,"
'Joe you just said that out loud,'
"Agh, I mean, we'll shit, that must have been terrifying for her, do they have any leads?" He questioned.
Of course not, he took the cat statue with him, can't find evidence they don't have.
He shook his head in disgust, "I know, you'd have to be a real sicko.,"
'Or just protecting if themselves, it was self defence!'

Joe stiffened, why did the conversation always go back to Beck, she'd love it.
He blinked, "hey, but- the killer is in jail, that's all the matters right?" He tried to help. Hopefully also steering the conversation away from his ex and we'll, victim.
Evan seemed like the right topic, he always seemed to be with her, on there walks, on there socials, and they texted each other a lot. It was exhausting.

He nodded, "oh.. sorry I just thought, we'll when I saw you together at the bookshop, you looked so close," he smiled calmly, inside he was jumping for joy.
'No boyfriend, good, means I don't have to kill him, although, comforting a sad best friend.. no, Joe stop it'
"No, no I think that's sweet," he smiled, "it's good to have friends,"
'You don't, lonely bookstore manager, I want that on my grave..'
Joe took another, longer sip of his coffee, he'd have to come back to this cafe, it was a decent cup.

Joe eyed her cautiously as she leaned into him, he smiled, his gaped tooth showing, "oh yeah, she'd be furious, she's probably throwing my clothes out the window as we speak,"
Joe quieted for a moment, "I-I'm kidding.. no, I don't, we'll I haven't,"
'Dated anyone since killing beck, yuh,'
"My last relationship ended pretty rocky.. so I've been careful with my choices," he shrugged,
'In other words you dumbass,'
"I don't- have a girlfriend" he finally managed out.
Watching as the waiter brought out there bill, Joe put his hand up, grabbing the paper, "oh I've got it,"
He grabbed the bill, reading the price,
'Fuck a duck, twenty two dollars for two coffees, note to self, don't forget how expensive coffee is in newyork'
He handed the man his bank card, processing the payment,
'Please work..'
Joe let out the faintest sigh of relief when the card accepted the transaction, getting the card back,
"Thank you," he muttered to the man, but really to the card.
