"I love you", Suguru gently kissed her as he pulled out, "I love you very much, Yuriko."

"Is everything alright? You don't seem so well."

It was the 24th of December, 2017 and Suguru didn't have the heart to tell her because he knew she'd try and convince him otherwise.

"Let's have dinner, shall we? I think I have a few more curses to absorb", he said as he took her hand, "I can't believe you use my technique almost as well as I do," he handed her one of the amber orbs.

"It's your cursed energy after all." She looked at the orb in her hand. Since she could use his cursed energy after absorbing it so much, Suguru had her test his technique out. And to his surprise, it worked. She could turn cursed spirits into amber balls and absorb them, as long as she had his cursed energy. And she really had absorbed enough for three lifetimes, mostly involuntarily.

"They really taste horrible, how do you get used to it?" She winced as she put it in her mouth.

"You don't," he watched her swallow it in disgust.

"I'm sorry you go through this every single day." Only she knew what it really felt like for him.

He was rather quiet, absorbing every second with her. Paying attention to every detail before he left. But he didn't want to tell her he was leaving.

"Do you think I can ever convince you?" She asked, her fingers queasy, fiddling the chopsticks.

"You should stop." He smiled. He really appreciated how she tried, "I was looking forward to dinner with you. It's Christmas tomorrow." He said.

She didn't understand why she felt so drowsy after dinner. "I think I'm falling sick." She couldn't get up.

"There, there," Suguru picked her up, heading towards his bed. "You'll be alright once you get some rest".

"Suguru san..." she instantly realised, "you're going today, isn't it?"

He watched her desperately fight the drowsiness away, "you'll wake up in a better world, my love." His lips passionately pressed against hers.

"No", she tried to get out of his bed but her limbs barely moved "don't... go. Please don't go." Her eyes teared and his heart broke "you can't do this. Please" her voice was giving up on her.

"Please..." her eyes drew shut and before she could try and use some of Gojo's reverse cursed technique that she'd accidentally absorbed, her eyes forced themselves shut, her lips leaving a breathy whisper, "don't... go."

"I love you very much, Yuriko." His smiling face was the last thing she saw "I'll see you again."

"Any last words?" Satoru asked his best friend with a heavy heart.

"Nah." He said as he feebly took out a small box and a letter with red stains from inside his robe. "Give them to Yuriko. She deserves this and more. She deserves so much more."

"Too bad she couldn't stop you"

"She really, really tried." He chuckled in pain, "her family is going to kill her." He sighed in defeat, "maybe then she'll finally be happy."

"I'll take care of that" Satoru promised as his eyes slightly glossed.

"At least curse me a little at the very end"

"Suguru..." Satoru's breath hitched, "You are my best friend."

When Yuriko opened her eyes in Suguru's bed, she instantly felt empty. She felt worse when her eyes focused on Satoru who was intently waiting for her to wake up. Her eyes went wide as she shot up from the bed, "No! Where am I? What day is it??" She looked at the windows, the sun was already out.

"NO!" Her hand clutched against her chest as Satoru thought of ways to break the painful news to her. Geto was right. She really did deserve better. "Where is he?", her hopeful voice tore through his heart again. He was already in pain and this just made him feel terrible.

"I'm sorry" he looked at his feet, unable face her. "He didn't make it, I'm sorry." His voice grew louder as he took in deep shaky breaths "I'm sorry I couldn't stop him. I'm so..." his throat felt it caught fire "sorry."

"He's..." she felt her heart drop to her stomach, "gone?" She wanted Satoru to say no. She was desperate for him to say no.

She couldn't say anything when his lips pursed in agony. Satoru took out of his pocket what Suguru intended for her to have.

She opened the small box and gasped when she saw the prettiest diamond encased ring she'd ever seen, "no-"

"He wanted you to have it."

"No!" Her body had begun digesting the news.

Satoru gave her the letter which she carefully opened. Suguru's vows.

Yuriko, the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen, the love of my life.
You have a beautiful soul and you're an even kinder person, with the purest heart.
I vow to give all of me, to you.
I promise to love you without condition, to always keep you happy and healthy.
In this new world of ours, you won't have to worry about a thing.
I will always protect you.
I will always cherish you.
I will choose you again and again. Every single time.
I will always find you, my love.
And I will always love you. Now and forever.
~ Geto Suguru

Satoru's heart panged a million times over as he watched her fully break down. Tears flowed down his face, he wanted to offer her some comfort but his lips wouldn't even move.

"I need to tell the kids", she got out of his bed. She hated getting out of his bed. His sheets still smelled like him. Oh, how it hurt her to leave. She wasn't ready to let go of him, but she was afraid she'd curse him. She looked around his room for the last time. She loved being there, with him, in his arms, in his warmth.

"You need to come with me to Jujutsu High", Satoru looked away. He was drowning in his own sorrow to face her.

"I told you I can't."

"We need you there. Megumi is joining next year." He said, "your family is going to kill you."

"I can't."

"The kids will also be taken care of. You said they have cursed energy, they'll come to Jujutsu High once they're old enough." He cleared his throat before he looked at her, "but we really need you there. And more importantly, we can't let you fall into your family's hands. At any cost."

"Megumi hates me"

"That's his problem," Satoru said "he'll get over it."

"Are you sure?"

"It's the safest place for you."

"Won't I be putting anyone in danger?"

"As long as I'm around, nobody's in any danger." He held her hand and walked her out. She had so much to do. She still had to tell the kids, she had to attend Geto's funeral.

"And you're my responsibility now. Suguru will curse me otherwise."
