With Nobara's cursed technique and Yuriko's domain, Sukuna had finally been weakened.
He knew her domain would repel his completely. She was always his doom, in this lifetime and the next.
As they finally exorcised Sukuna, Yuriko's eyes teared on seeing Megumi again. He looked like his very soul had extinguished, but he was happy to see her again. His only family.
"Nesan..." he almost whispered. His voice wouldn't get out even if he wanted it to.
"Yes, goomi?"
"I killed... so many people." His voice was barely there. "I killed... Tsumiki-"
"That's not you, baby. You could never." She touched his warm face and saw how dry his eyes were. He was so done with everything that he had no tears to spare.
"What now?" He whispered.
"We go home now."
"Will you be okay?"
"I'm right here, aren't I?" She softly assured him.
"No more curses?"
"No more curses, baby."
She held him tight as he stood still in her embrace, finally feeling the warmth of human skin again. Something that wasn't crawling cold on his spine for once.
He was warm.
Satoru was much worse. He didn't know how to process anything. He couldn't understand if they were dead or alive because the last time he was lucid, Yuriko was dead. He snapped back only after exorcising Sukuna's and didn't understand a thing.
"Satoru san?" He looked at her like it was a fading dream.
"Are we both... dead?" He looked so hopeful that it stung her heart a little.
"We're not." She put her arms around his waist as he looked down to see some colour on her face.
"Where are we?"
"At the end of it all." She took his hand with a small smile, "let's go home. The kids must be waiting."
Satoru felt so strange as he entered the house. Everything seemed surreal. He couldn't register the kids running to him. He couldn't feel his daughter flying into his arms. He couldn't process anything.
Yuriko was worried with how little he reacted to anything. He barely spoke all day.
He quietly retired in his bed after dinner. He couldn't sleep a wink.
"Talk to me." Yuriko was putting Sayuri to sleep. She'd missed her baby so much that she held her all day, and Sayuri refused to let go of her.
"What's happening around me? How is everything... so normal now?" He stared at the ceiling.
"We exorcised Sukuna." She reassured him. "No more fights."
"Are you sure this isn't a dream?"
"It can't be a dream. We're all here — Yuji, Nobara, Megumi, Ieiri san... your daughter is here." She put her sleeping baby in her crib. "I'm here."
"But you weren't." He whispered as he continued to blankly stare at the ceiling.
"I know." She pulled him out of the bed where he laid like a dead man, "I'm sorry" she hugged him, "I'm sorry you had to see that."
"Y-You looked so pale." His voice was shaky, his hands too scared to touch her face.
"I'm here now." She said as his rough hand finally held her face, "I'm right here, Satoru san." He flinched when her warm hand touched his.
"It was horrible." His eyes were tearing up. She hadn't ever seen him like that. "I didn't want to do it anymore!"
"You were so strong against him. What happened?" When she saw him sliced in half, she couldn't understand how that even happened. They were all confident that he'd hold up by himself.
"I..."
"What is it? You're worrying me now." She anxiously asked him.
"I didn't want to be here another minute without you." He buried his face in her neck as tears streamed down his face. He held her tight like she was the sand slipping away from his fingers. "Nothing was worth saving anymore."
She gasped a little when he said that, "you've gone crazy!" He missed her soft voice ringing in his ears.
"I think I have." He sighed as his eyes closed, "I can't tell you what I felt when I saw you again. I thought it was dream, and I didn't want it to end."
"I'm not dead and neither are you." She kissed his face, "I'm surprised that you care about me so much."
"Of course I do. I'd be so lost without you, my love."
"What will you do when I get old and die?" She giggled.
"I think I'll jump into your grave. I can't do this without you, baby." His sorrowful eyes glowed when it met hers. Like ocean eyes to her riptide.
"You're so dramatic." She was glad he made it. She was glad he came back. She would've broken to a point of no return if she lost him too. But she knew how to deal with it better than he did.
"Marry me, my love." He had a hopeful voice, "I should've when I had my first chance."
"When?" She playfully asked him.
"Tomorrow?"
She paused for a minute before asking him, "are you sure you don't want to think about this before-"
"There's nothing to think about." He cut her off, not wanting to hear anything about uncertainty. "We have a daughter together, and all the other kids that really like me now. And I don't want to be here without you. It's established. We're getting married tomorrow."
He saw that she was hesitant with how hasty he was. He knew she needed more assurance with something that big.
"I don't want to go another day without being married to you." He said, "that's all I want."
"Okay." She nodded.
"What is it?" He cocked his head to the side, "you don't like me anymore? Is there someone else that you like? You're not attracted to me anymore?"
"You're crazy." She laughed. "There's no one else. We can go tomorrow. I'm hesitant because I have a legitimate concern."
"What is it?"
"I don't have a dress." She had a big smile on her face.
"Oh," he finally stopped yapping. "You can wear whatever you want, baby. You won't be wearing it for long anyway." He didn't understand how that was a serious concern.
"Stop putting it that way!" She laughed as he took her in his arms again.
"Wait!" She said, "you're not fully healed yet. What if I dismantle your cursed energy again?"
"Well..." he pouted, "chances are that I might break in two again."
